He just hasn't been able to adjust his game after a dominating performance. Also can't seem to play at a high level at home vs at the road. And lastly can't believe anthony johnson actually had the best of him tonight when he should have been driving past him easily everytime.
Rondo's issue tonight was that he wasn't driving and passing like he did so well on game 2. He was stagnant and looked confused by magic's adj on defense or nervous with the crowed not behind him
When i saw the team let PP be the pg early 4th quarter you knew it was game over. (I hate it with a passion when we play this way)
On a side note not to bag on pp but i just wonder what the results would have been if he didn't play as much like the last game
Back to rondo. Honestly he doesn't have to shoot great ever because he is an electrifying player regardless its just he needs to bring his A game every single game.
What's a pass first pg to do when your 2 leading scorers are contributing nothing to the game?
Well, in all fairness, he shot the ball more than any of the 2 leading scorers. And one of the leading scorers finished the game with an excellent PPS ratio - because he started playing much better once he stopped relying on the pass first pg to run the offence. More amusingly, the leading scorer finished the game with the same amount of assists than the pass first pg (somehow, BBallTim classifies this as
contributing nothing to the game - I'm sure nobody is surprised, but it's always amusing). And the job of the pg is precisely to put his scorers in position to score - something he failed to do.
Yesterday, the team looked much better with Marbury on the court, because Rondo allowed the Magic to play the "just keep an eye on the kid from 15ft away and turn the back on him to double someone else whenever he passes the ball" brand of defence on him.
