Career Playoff AVG's (furthest reached in playoffs)IMO a player's worth, legacy-wise, is determined by playoff performance.

Steve Nash
102games 17pts 3reb 8ast (Conf Finals)

Jason Kidd
112games 15pts 7reb 9ast (NBA Finals)

Chris Paul
17games  22pts 5reb 11ast (Conf Semifinals)

Deron Williams
34games  20pts 4reb 9ast (Conf Finals)

Chauncey Billups
124games 17pts 3reb 6ast (NBA Champion)

Rajon Rondo
35games  12pts 5reb 8ast (NBA Champion)

so from this analysis i'd say that he hasn't played enough yet, but if he avg's another triple double this series it'll really bump it up.

right now if i was building a team i'd say:

CP3 (not a better defender than Rondo)
Rajon Rondo
Chauncey Billups
Deron Williams
Derrick Rose
Tony Parker
Devin Harris

I have to say that Rondo probably would not have been this good, this early if he wasn't with this veteran team...with that said, I still think he has some ways to go...

He has no shot...yet.
He's still inconsistent...
Sometimes his immaturity surfaces...

I would put 9 other PG's to play for the celtic over Rondo...But he his having a [dang] good post season

1.CP3
2.Deron Williams
3.Tony Parker
4.Chauncy Billups
5.Steve Nash
6.Gilbert Arenas (when Healthy)
7.Jose Calderon
8.Jason Kidd
9.Devin Harris
10.Rajon Rondo

1.CP3 yes
2.Deron Williams toss up
3.Tony Parker, Same as Rondo offensively but doesn't have the passing skills
4.Chauncy Billups yes
5.Steve Nash not at all, defensive liability
6.Gilbert Arenas (when Healthy) Gilbert should be a 2, and theres no such thing as healthy with him
7.Jose Calderon no
8.Jason Kidd better than nash but still no
9.Devin Harris just a scorer
10.Rajon Rondo

I can see the first four, certainly. Nash is too much of a defensive liability at this point, in my opinion. Calderon is also a bad defender. I'm not sure Gilbert (especially) and Harris (maybe) would work well with these Celtics, given how much they each need to shoot. There's certainly an argument for Kidd -- the trouble there is, he doesn't really defend PG's anymore; he defends shooting guards. So Ray would have to defend the PG, and that might not go well. But Kidd is still very good. And Harris is good.

Calderon isn't anywhere near the player Rondo is. Neither are Nash or Kidd at this point. Harris is better at scoring and nothing else. He and Nash are probably still having nightmares about their games against Boston last year. I'd go Paul, Billups, Williams/Rondo, Parker.

Nash may not be as good as a defender than Rondo, but Rondo's offense is nowhere near Nash's offense either.

I figured I'd get a little heat for putting Rondo that low in a Celtics forum...but top 10 PG for a young PG for our very own Rondo is great to me! I mean, look at the names he's in the same sentence with...

But actually look at what BballTim said. He's absolutely right (TP Tim).

Nash got absolutely smoked by Rondo in their last meeting. Rajon dropped 32 on him with 9 assists and Nash got shut down completely in a game that his team lost by 20+. Rondo > Nash

Calderon is a nice player, but you can't put him higher than Rondo. He wasn't even getting mentioned in the All-Star voting; Rondo was, so that reflects a consensus opinion that "Rondo_is_better".

Kidd got smoked the last time the two went head to head; Rajon is just too quick for Kidd now. There is nothing that Kidd does better than Rondo, and the only arguable point is that he rebounds at a higher rate.

Harris is a scorer who can't really create for his team. He's much more one dimensional and not the type of player you win championships with. Think AI but worse.

Arenas is never healthy, so... moot point.

Parker and Billups are arguable. I can see them being put ahead of Rondo, but otherwise, none of those other guys make the cut. At worst Rajon is 5th best in the league.

1. CP3
2. Williams
3. Billups
4. Parker
5. Rondo

At best Rondo is third:

1. CP3
2. Williams
3. Rondo
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

You guys have good points. I guess I'd put him over Calderon and Harris...

But I still think Nash has the better Basketball IQ and so does Jason Kidd. Though they are past their prime, I'm sure any team would love them as their starting PG.

Rondo/Harris/Calderon are a toss up between any of the 7-10 spots...but honestly, if each player had played great on the same night, I think Rondo would have the better stats.

I just think Harris and Calderon's offense are so key when the rest of their team mates are not having a great offensive night. Then again, so is Rondo's defense.

But like I said..Rondo is a [dang] good PG and I'm glad we got him.

RRRRRondooooo is Hands down the Best PG in the East, there is no other PG I would rather have in the east at this point than Rajon...Rose in a couple of yrs would be very goood, BUt until he learns to play defense, he will be a liability, but as Ive said, I like Rose, he is tough and will be playing in the allstar game in 2 yrs...I don't like Jameer(too small) also a liaibility on defense, nor Mo Williams( very one dimensional, just a perfect compliment to Lebron).

CP3 is the no. 1 PG in the NBA right now followed closely by Deron. Then Tony Parker.
So If im to rank em id say:

CP3
D Will
Parker
Rondo

forget Billups, Nash, and Kidd coz in two yrs theyd be were Marbury is right now, a Backup, they are all on the wrong side of thirty and I really don't understand that people would still like to have them if they are building a team...If Im building a team, I would rather have Rose than these oldies.

Do some of you guys honestly believe this team would be better off with Rondo than Steve Nash?  Really?  I know he's older and a "defensive liability", but come on.  You honestly believe Rondo is more capable of running the offense?  You honestly think that we couldn't use Steve Nash shooting 50%,  44% from three and 93% from the line?

Daffy... pure daffy.

Maybe in a few years Rondo will surpass him, but come on now... lets be real.  Rondo has had a solid playoff for the last 9 games, but he's still the same player who played in the regular season.   Long term obviously the 23 year old is a better option than the 35 year old, but I'm not ready to say Rondo is better than Steve Nash... or Jason Kidd... or Billups... or Tony Parker... DEFINITELY not better than CP or DWill...  arguably better than Rose (short term)... debatable if he's better than Mo Williams, Devin Harris, Calderon, Jameer Nelson.

This argument was had mid-season and Rondo didn't make the allstar team.  Obviously people around the NBA felt he wasn't as good as Mo Williams and Devin Harris.  As much as I'm impressed with him playing a rookie even and playing solid for 2 games against skip-to-my-loo, 9 games doesn't make the guy surpass his peers.

I appreciate the non-homerism, LarBrd33, especially here in the homer-friendly forums, but Steve Nash just may be one of the worst defensive PGs in the NBA at this point. Rondo is one of the best. I think that gulf outweighs the significant advantages Nash has on offense.

everyone stinks at defense until they play in Boston.  Nash is sorta flawless on the offensive end.  I love Rondo... don't get me wrong...  obviously would never trade Rondo for Nash even in some imaginary world where it was just for "one year"...   But I'm not convinced yet that Rondo is better than the 2 time MVP.

I'm just looking at the big picture.   Rose scored at will on Rondo.   Rose would score at will on Nash.  But Nash would arguably be the best shooter on our team (over Ray).   Ray's never had a 50/40/90 season.  Nash has done it for like 5 years.  He's also arguably the best passer in the league.  Can you imagine how much more dangerous our team would be if we we went from having a guy who can't hit a shot to save his life... to having a guy who is arguably the best shooter in the league?   Big picture, folks... big picture.
