My ranking:

1. Chris Paul
2. Deron Williams
3. Rajon Rondo
4. Tony Parker

I think CP3 is a no-brainer at 1.  One could make the case that Rondo, due to his incredible quickness, athleticism, and defense, nudges ahead of DW, despite his obvious poorer outside shot.  Parker is 4th because he does not have the same defensive skills as the other 3.

What do you think?

Seems pretty fair.

I'm guessing we haven't seen the peak of the upward curve with Rondo.  What I'd like to see are fewer dips in the curve.  We've certainly seen fewer and fewer disappearing acts, and the spectacular games have been coming more frequently, but I'd love to see him play the same game regardless of who the opponent is and what his mood is.

I'm not complaining, just saying there's still a ton of room for improvement - which is scary.
Yup

1. CP3
2. Tony Parker
3. Chauncy Billups
4. Rajon Rondo
5. Steve Nash
6. Deron Williams

Only because if I had to pick a PG on a team when I was playing for my life--a true must win situation--that's the order I choose.  Maybe I need to watch DW more to appreciate him, but that Lakers series left a bad taste in my mouth, as great as he clearly is.

Williams would be my first choice to built a franchise. Paul is clearly at his level. Tony Parker is a tier bellow, standing alone. Then, after Parker, there are a few guys, more or less at the same level, including Rondo.

That's pretty much how I see it, when looking at all-around game.  If "Playoff Rondo" shows up consistently in the regular season, then I think he moves up that list.

I think Rondo is closer to players like Andre Miller and Jose Calderon (good players, both) than he is to a guy like CP3, though.

I'll take Rondo over all of them, and I am not joking. I haven't seen Paul or Williams playing lately. Oh yeah, I forgot, they are no longer in the playoffs and neigher of them came within 1 rebound of averaging a triple double for a 7 game series.

I think *way* too much is made of this triple double thing.  Unless, of course, people would prefer Fat Lever over players like Bob Cousy, Isiah Thomas, John Stockon, or heck, even Larry Bird and Michael Jordan.

I agree. Triple doubles and double doubles aren't valuable by themselves. Its about what you did to get there.

Yeah, I guess you are right about the triple double thing. I dont know what Oscar Robertson and Magic were thinking.

Among NBA PG's that are still playing basketball this season, I'd say Rondo was the best. Based on what he did during the regular season compared to the rest of the league, I'd say top 7 with Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Tony Parker, Chauncey Billups, Jameer Nelson, and Devin Harris. Going forward based on what they have done and what they could do, I'd have to say top 3.

;D well put...Rondo has been great though, we are winning because of him, just like those other names you mention in your post.

If I am not mistaken, didnt Rondo tie Cousy's playoff assist record of 19 last night, and for the second time in this post season. He also tied Larry Bird's record for triple doubles in a post season. Guy's numbers like these don't come around very often and especially not from young point guards. I am not saying Rondo is the greatest thing since sliced bread but I will take a player who has a great post season over a player who has a great regular season any day.

That's an interesting question.  Among points guards 26 and younger, where does Rondo rank in this group in terms of potential?

Devin Harris (26)
Chris Paul (24)
Deron Williams (24)
Rajon Rondo (23)
Derek Rose (20)
Russell Westbrook (20)

I'd probably take Rondo ahead of Westbrook and Harris, but behind the other three.  We'll hopefully be having the Rose vs. Rondo debate for another decade, but I like Rose's upside a little better.

1) Parker
2) Rondo
3) Billups

This is my opinion based on my knowledge of the game. 3 guys who led their team to championships. Rondo next will def be #1 come next year.
