  • Thumper of the BASS!

Technically, we could pull something like that off, by offering SCAL + Tony + Giddens + Walker (combined salaries of $7,356,131).  I'm not sure, though, that that deal would be in the best interests of either team.

trade scal?

nope

I want Tyrus Thomas... give him a clipboard and assign him to Kevin Garnett for a year. He has a fire... we saw it in the NCAAs... and boy does he have a motor. I can't believe the Bulls are down on this kid.

I'd rather have Eddie.

Well, if I could just choose between the two, I'd take Gordon.

But value-wise, I'd take Eddie in a heartbeat.

big difference is Gordon can create his own shot, Eddie can't

but I think we have bigger needs than another undersized combo guard off the bench

I've got a feeling Gordon is going to be a Knick at the end of the offseason. He fits their style to a tee: all offense, little D and uptempo. The Knicks need to start adding some guns like that if they want to entice players to give them a serious look in '10.

Hmmm, interesting idea.  Normally, I would agree with you, but keep in mind they will need to extend Lee and Robinson this offseason.  My guess after each gets their multi-year extension (I am guessing around $8M/yr for each), the Knicks will have about $24M left under the cap in 2010.  They will probably want to preserve much of that, but we'll see.

And Don't Robinson and Lee already count as "those kinds of guns"?

And how did Wilson Chandler end up playing this season? He was looking like a breakout star at one point.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Gordon is a liability in many ways.  I wouldn't want him on our team.

Yeah, they will more than likely extend those guys. I just feel like to make the next step, to have at least a 40 win season they are going to need another player to help them reach that. Otherwise who will want to play for them? A Gordon/Robinson guard combo would be a pretty good one. They are going to get a good pick in the draft this year, and I would think that if they don't end up with the top pick which would obviously land them Griffin, then they will still end up with a guy like Harden or Jennings from this draft, which will be pretty decent.

By the way, I am no way antagonizing Gordon for wanting a big pay day and wanting to be a starter.  He's just 26 and his value has increased over this series.  If he takes MLE (just under $6 million) and sits on the bench just for the possible chance at getting a ring, he's out of his mind.  He's entering his prime and he's a decent starter on a lot of NBA teams.

Enough Money to offer Big bad Ben Gordon to our team. Just a one or two year contract, Ballpark money to what he could get per year in Chicago, and then tell him once he wins a championship he can Leave and get His Megabucks. With the economy down just wait like a year or two and get your ring now.

So come on guys could are Super-Rich Owners pull this off.

Don't tell me they cant there worth hundreds of Millions of Dollars. And he would be a perfect fit for Boston. Not a natural Starter, although he could. Not Ideal Height to defend other two guards. But wow can he fill it up.

We would win, bar none the next two years, if he was with us and everyone is healthy. He's exactly what are team needs.
I'm not sure any championship caliber team needs Ben Gordon. He kills you as often as he helps. Look at how poorly he shot in the series against us. Why does he get so much credit for the shots that go in, but is not held accountable for the shots that miss?

Game 1: 6-17
Game 2: 14-24
Game 3: 5-13
Game 4: 10-22
Game 5: 6-21
Game 6: 4-14
Game 7: 7-23
Overall: 52-134

The guy was horrific except for games 2 and 4!

It also seems difficult to run your offense with a guy like him always ready to launch horrible shots.

Add to this his weak defense... I'll pass.

Thomas showed a lot of game people have been waiting for since he was drafted but I still dont want him.

For every great play he made in this series he either made a costly mistake or lost his cool somehow.  I remember making a remark in one of the game threads that he reminds me of a 6'8" Tony Allen.

If we're gonna go over the top and spend some money this offseason, the player we need to pry from the Bulls is Deng, and like Roy said earlier, all the trouble we'd have to go to to make the salaries work in a trade to aquire a player making as much money as Deng wouldnt be too beneficial to us.

I'd rather have Jamal Crawford he could back up point guard and shotting guard same with AI. You could have alotta different situations on the floor which would be positive next year.

I'd rather have a solid backup center, at whatever $$ it costs us, so that we don't have to cringe every time Perkins gets in foul trouble.

Celts are already a wonderful offensive team.

We need to get to get a couple of defensive minded studs and be the #1 defensive team next year....

Thomas is a head case.  He is the typical 'all the talent in the world' guy, but doesn't have the emotional intelligence to be anything more than potential.  He shows glimpses every now and then, but nothing more.

No thanks on Thomas nor Gordon.

Ben Gordon is a absolutley perfect fit for this team. Gordon is the 6th man the Celtics need. He is a straight scorer, the one thing the second unit lacks. We need a go to guy off the bench and here is a guy that can come out and give the team 20 points off the bench consistently...A bench or Marbury, Gordon, Walker, Baby, Powe, with a legit center thrown in there is A ok in my book...

Too bad he will hold out for a 10 - 12 million dollar contract elsewhere and never sign the vet min... However, I think Ray Allen whispered something along the lines of "Take the MLE and come to us next year and win a championship," at the end of the game. A year on the bench for gordon as the 6th man, Allen's contract goes up and they switch roles.
