I've seen Adande on espn.com mention more than once that Boston would be a potential place for Allen Iverson to go next season and play as a backup PG (assuming he can swallow his pride enough to even verbally agree to come off the bench).

On a scale of 1 - 10, how ridiculous (both in terms of likelihood and good for the team) is the idea of A.I. playing off the bench in Boston next year?

people thought Marbury was a ridiculous idea, and though it hasn't given us much, it hasn't really detracted

Good point, but I think Marbury got more of a bad rap than he deserved...he never literally came out and said "I'd rather retire than come off the bench."

AI did, and the Pistons are proof of a team that was disrupted and had a poor overall season because of AI playing.  The Knicks did poorly in the latter years of Marbury being on their team, but he wasn't playing, or even around the team all that much.

Just don't see it happening and AI taking a small contract doesn't sound like him. I think he will still be a big free agent going somewhere he will start.

AI would love to play for Doc.

AI: Practice? We´re talking about practice?

Doc: What? No, we´re talking about my golf handicap...

I wonder why everyone wants washed-up ex-stars on this team. Every team can only handle a certain amount of star-power, imo. Aditionally, I don´t think AI can contribute much here in a backup role. If your heart´s not in it...
So, thanks, but no thanks.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

A 10.

We don't have the minutes he's looking for, he wouldn't be starting, and we can't pay him more than the MLE. If it was just about the game he'd be perfect for this team, but with him being a cancer and all it just wouldn't work.

No way AI comes to Boston. I think he will probably end up in either Portland or Houston. With that said, I Really hope AI can win a title. I cant think of anyone who deserves a championship more than him.

This is ridiculous, backup PG should be getting 10-12 minutes max.  Rondo should be playing 35-38 minutes per game anyways.  Even still if AI is at the 2 I don't want him.

It might rate higher on the unlikely scale, but on the ridiculous scale, it probably rates like a 2 or 3. It's not ridiculous at all. People want to compare and contrast this with the Marbury signing. And it's true, all the same rules apply. Ainge wasn't going to sign Marbury unless it was low risk and unless he was confident that Marbury would accept the role offered him. If Marbury said no, Ainge wouldn't have signed him.

Same applies here. Ainge won't do something stupid. If AI wants to fit in and Ainge wants to sign him, it won't be ridiculous at all. The question is whether AI would accept a smaller role and whether Ainge would actually want him. For these reasons, I don't think it's ridiculous at all, but I do think it's fairly unlikely.

It's a 10 on the scale of ridiculousness to me; AI has made it very clear that he's not a team player, and he's admitted that he has no desire to come off the bench.

However, I wouldn't be all that surprised if Danny attempted to recruit him.  Danny seems to admire the guy, and also seems to enjoy reclamation projects.  Hopefully, though, common sense (or AI's ego) will prevail.

"WE NOT ME" would become "I not them".

He is not a team player. He is more concerned with his own playing time, his own "touches," than winning games with his teams. This is a chronic issue with him, and there is no sign of that changing. Witness his refusal to come off the bench this year, and his absence from the playoffs. No single player is more important than the team's effort to win the Championship.

Regarding AI winning a title, if he ever learns to become a team player, I might join you. However, until that happens, I could not care less about AI and a title.

I think it's a bad state of affairs for Allen Iverson when almost universally we would rather accept Stephon Marbury because we think that "Starbury" is more willing to buy into the idea of a team.

Let's be fair, though.  From all that we've seen of Starbury since he's been here I think we have to say that he has bought into the idea of a team.  There hasn't really been any indication that that isn't the case.
