Scale of 1 to 10: How Ridiculous?

It's a 10 on the scale of ridiculousness to me; AI has made it very clear that he's not a team player, and he's admitted that he has no desire to come off the bench.

However, I wouldn't be all that surprised if Danny attempted to recruit him.  Danny seems to admire the guy, and also seems to enjoy reclamation projects.  Hopefully, though, common sense (or AI's ego) will prevail.

My sentiments to the word.

I'd rather see Danny find another 7-foot stiff in the off-season to amuse himself before he adds Iverson to the roster.

I think it's a bad state of affairs for Allen Iverson when almost universally we would rather accept Stephon Marbury because we think that "Starbury" is more willing to buy into the idea of a team.

Let's be fair, though.  From all that we've seen of Starbury since he's been here I think we have to say that he has bought into the idea of a team.  There hasn't really been any indication that that isn't the case.

By no means do I disagree. I more meant that we signed Stephon under the idea that he COULD buy into a team idea, and the same can't be said for Iverson. Which I think is a really, really poor reflection on the artist formerly known as the answer.

Alright, I get you.  I agree.  Before Marbury came here, I believed he could turn out to be a good deal.  I don't believe Iverson is capable of submerging his ego in the same way.

AI would be an incredible 6th man, but I don't see him accepting it unless he hits bottom like Marbury.

Look at Marbury. He isn't deluded enough to believe he deserves to start at the moment. He is a mess at the moment. AI is still in good shape and can still do his thing. He hasn't been humbled yet.

Plus, Marbury has always been nuts, but AI has always publicly declared that rules don't apply to him and that he is bigger than the team. He doesn't need practice and he can't play off the bench.

Still, I imaging things would be different if AI was signed as a backup, because he would have publicly accepted the role from day one. Of course, once we lose a few, or win a few games with AI starting for an injured Rondo or Ray, he might get some ideas.

Maybe you're not one of them, but I can't tell you how many people ranted about the impossibility of Marbury buying into the team concept before we signed him.

I have no evidence or proof, but I actually think AI is probably a better human being than Marbury. The right dose of humility can change AI like it did Marbury. Just watch.

AI's situation is a bit different, because he's older and he could legitimately decide he just doesn't want to deal with it anymore and retire. I could see it going either way. Or the Clippers could sign him to be their marquee player and then nothing would change...
