Don't want to jinx Rondo, because it seems like he's playing out his butt right now.  I don't know how a player can go from being solid to the best player in the league overnight.  The Bulls must be a perfect matchup for him.  I figured he'd have a huge letdown last night, but once again he was beyond brilliant.

So since he's averaging 24, 10 and 10 for the series... I'm curious how many players have ever averaged a triple double for an entire playoff series.   I wonder if he can pull it off.  Lets see another 20, 10 and 10 tomorrow night (and a blowout victory, please)...

Can anyone name the players who have accomplished that?

Wow, that's some pretty nice company right there.  One more triple double and a W in Game 6 and he joins some of the elite players of all time.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

Oscar Robertson   1961-62   vs Detroit lost series: 1-3 28.8 points   11.0 rebounds 11.0 assists
Wilt Chamberlain 1966-67 vs Cincinnati won series 3-1 28.0 points 26.5 rebounds 11.0 assists
Wilt Chamberlain 1966-67 vs Boston won series 4-1 21.6 points 32.0 rebounds 10.0 assists
Magic Johnson 1979-80 vs Phoenix won series 4-1   15.4 points   10.8 rebounds 11.0 assists
Magic Johnson 1981-82 vs Phoenix won series 4-0   20.0 points   11.8 rebounds 10.8 assists
Magic Johnson 1982-83 vs San Antonio won series   4-2   17.5 points   10.5 rebounds 14.0 assists
Fat Lever 1984-85 vs Utah won series 4-1 17.0 points 11.0 rebounds 10.3 assists
Magic Johnson 1990-91 vs Golden State won series 4-1   25.8 points 10.0 rebounds 12.8 assists
Jason Kidd 2001-02 vs Boston won series 4-2 17.5 points   11.2 rebounds 10.2 assists
Jason Kidd 2006-07 vs Toronto won series 4-2 14.0 points   10.0 rebounds 13.2 assists

So only Oscar, Wilt and Magic have averaged 20+, 10+ and 10+...   Wow...  I officially jinxed Rondo.

Where is the Fat Lever? Would make working out a lot easier, just turn it off.

Rondo would be lucky to be as good as Fat Lever some day.  THat guy in his prime averaged 20 points, 8 assists, 9 rebounds and 2.7 steals.

I've heard him compared to Fat before.

Yeah, he was definitely a good player in his prime.  He's definitely not an all-time great, but he made a couple of all-star teams.

I think that's the most we can ask for from Rondo.

Fat once dumped 31 points, 20 assists, 16 rebounds and 6 steals on the Bulls.  I'd like to see Rondo recreate that performance tomorrow.  :)

Didn't he have knee problems after those "prime" years?

He was good until he turned 30 and injuries ended his career.  But really... Rondo would be lucky to ever put up the kind of numbers Fat did during those years.

He could easily average 20+ points  at that age (about 5 years from now) and he's already getting 8+ assists but I wouldn't count on his averaging 9 boards a game, nor would I really want him to.

Not to take away from Fat, but I believe those Nuggets teams coached by Doug Moe were ridiculously high scoring teams, that pushed the pace. So there were more shots to get points, rebounds and assists on. Michael Adams, Lever, and Alex English all benefited offensively stats-wise from this. So while Fat Lever was a solid player, if he played for another team his stats would have most likely been reduced a lot (Think Shawn Marion going from the Suns to the Heat and Raptors).
