Why are we whining about clutch FT stats? If PP hadn't made a 3 point foul play and a clutch 3, that missed free throw would have meant nothing.

And how many games has he finished off at the line? Nobody remembers those ones. He's going to miss 1/4 of them, late game or not.
give me a game in the playoffs where he has hit clutch free throws to finish the game. I love the guy but when the pressure is on at the free throw line in the playoffs he almost always chokes...

Pierces free throw stance just makes me extremely nervous. It looks like he's trying to balance while shooting. The foot spacing just drives me bananas.
And when he misses sometimes it looks like he's actually going to fall down because he's off balance and leaning so much.  For some reason I have more confidence in Paul nailing a last second jumper than I do him hitting last second free throws.  More thinking and less reacting at the foul line.

Because Pierce, for some extremely odd reason, isn't as popular as, say, Tony Allen. Or Gerald Green. Or Ryan Gomes ...

You see the pattern?

Well, Pierce blows a crucial game six against Orlando at the line. I can't say that I'm surprised.

Are you serious? You don't really think that PP lost us this game, right?

In fact, that was a key moment of the game... I really believe that if he had hit those 2 FT, we would have won!! But I can't put the blame on him because he scored 6 consecutive points and got us back to the game when no-one else seemed able to step up!! So, he is responsible for the loss just as much as the others...

And he did finish...

i think the foul really shook him up. his body language, his eyes, they didnt seem alright to me after that foul. maybe if doc called a timeout to make pp gather himself he wouldve made that

How would we have won if he had made those 2 free throws?

That makes no sense.

Paul is shooting around 90 %
for this series (maybe more?).
Can't ask for more than that!

True, it would be silly to ask Paul to make the two free throws that matter the most.

i cannot believe i had to read six pages before someone mentioned that he took a very hard foul and landed on his back very hard. he took his time getting to the line, but perhaps a longer rest would have done him better.

i am not 100% comfortable with him at the line at the end of games, but i know he has made more than his fair share. he has missed some, but to me, tough to criticize him. he is a celtic in the truest sense of the word. 99% of the guys would have bailed on this franchise when things went south; pierce hung in there and i will never forget that.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
Even though I would have preferred Paul to make his foul shots, I think it's hard to blame two missed FTs for an eight point loss.
