BBD didn't play well, but he still got a double double and has played great the rest of the series. Silly imo to bump this thread, b/c he misses a lay-up. BBD was not made to play 45 minutes, which he did. He still hustles to tap that rebound out to Pierce for the three and like I said gave us 45 minutes, when two of our bigs are out injured, two others fouled out, and mikki moore is atrocious. This loss isn't on BBD.

BBD shouldn't be playing this many minutes per game...I'm sure he's just too tired out there right now.  Luckily when KG comes back that won't be a problem.

Agreed.  He just had a bad offensive game.  I like how people come back and say "see" after he's had a bad offensive game, like nobody every has them.  :-\ Up until now, he's been great for the Celtics.  BTW, he had a terrible offensive game, but he played well otherwise.  Pierce played a terrible game too, let's cut his minutes! ::)
Check the thread... I have continued to hate Obese taking 20 shots a night regardless of if he makes them.   I hate the idea that our team has sunk to the point where we are living and dying with some 2nd year 2nd round bum jacking up wide open jump shots.  It was nice to see him knock down roughly half of those for a couple games... but it killed us tonight.

Am I the only one who doesn't want the Celtics to live and die with Obese jacking up 20 shots a night?

Sometimes the ball just doesn't fall.

The biggest problem for Davis is he got a dunk blocked by John Salmons.

And Ray Allen was right on target with his free throw but it just rattled out.

This is why we need to re-sign Leon.  BBD can't score consistently inside.

We don't even know if Leon can still play. BBD can do some stuff; Powe can do other things. The priority right now, after Powe's injury, is to re-sign Davis, and by far.

There's no reason they can't sign them both, especially with Powe willing to play for significantly less.

Also, with the medical techniques for ACL surgeries in place today, I think the chances of Leon not playing next season are about 0%.

I think Powe can play next season, but I'm not sure how effective he would be.  Usually when these guys first come back they are not really that effective until the season after they return, so I wouldn't expect much from Powe until at least the playoffs next season or maybe the season following that.

I don't care about his double double.  He's an interior player... he's averaging like 8.5 rebounds per 48 minutes which means there are about 80 other players in these playoffs rebounding better than him.

I admit I'm frustrated, but even when Obese was knocking down those shots in game 2 I was cringing every time he took them.   It stinks that such a large component of our offense is him taking jump shots.

You do? Any scientific paper? And when will he play? By January? By May? How effective is he going to be once he returns? Let's wait for the surgeons to see how his knee is. I favour the min. salary deal plus a team option for the following year as long as the medical team gives their approval. Otherwise, just keep Baby and find another guy.

Well, that´s not Baby´s fault. As Bankshot said, Pierce, our first option, played very streaky. If he´s hot, there´s no need for 20 shots by Baby. If you look at the game thread, people were actually calling for more shots by BBD early in the game, because they thought he would pass up too many of them.

Baby has good games, and Baby has bad games, Not unusual for a second-year player. We should start with our criticism with Pierce, not Baby. Actually, I think it´s noone´s fault that we lost the game. All candidates who could play our scapegoat also had several moments in the game where they saved our butts, otherwise we could have lost way earlier.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

You'd rather have Pierce miss the shots as in todays game? The scoreboard doesn't care how much a guy weighs when taking an open shot.

I agree it's not the fault of Obese that he's been thrust into a situation where the Bulls are leaving him wide open to jack up uncontested shots... and that our team is being forced to rely on that.   That's not his fault.  Without KG, our savior, we don't have a lot of options.   That's no fault of Obese.   but it's not MIkki Moore's fault that he sucks, either.   It's not MIkki Moore's fault that he couldn't carry Joe Smith's jock... it's just an unfortunately set of circumstances that have thrust important minutes into the hands of some terrible basketball players.  Poor guys.  Bummer that they suck... it's going to make this a serious challenge.

Sounds like you're a little obsessed with him. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. BBD is not KG. He's not going to give you the same rebounding and defense. Just like if Ray was hurt and Eddie played 45 minutes he wouldn't give you the same as Ray. Or Tony for Pierce, or Marbury for Rondo.

BBD is averaging 17 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 1.5 blocks and 1 turnover a game in the playoffs. If you're demanding more that's unfair. You have to have realistic expectations. He's not KG. You just don't like him. If i said Ryan Gomes was averaging those stats I think you'd look at it differently. And btw, "obese" is a lame nickname.

It does however care when you missed 3 wide open at the rim game changing shots though. It simply doesn't count the points.

I thought BBD did some things well today. What he didn't do well was what we already knew. He can't score around the basket to save his life. It sure took ours today.

I gotta say that this thread is ridiculous and calling Glenn Davis Obese for a nickname is even worse. The guy is an undersized power forward playing for the most part solid ball for a team with ONE legitimate big man.

The wide-ass sets a mean pick for Ray Allen.  That's something positive.

On to Boston....

Vinne, it's a fitting nickname.  Check his BMI.  He's hecka Obese.   Plus, if he ever has another big game i'll start calling him Obeast.

He's undersized in height. Not in the belly. Maybe if he'd get in a little better shape he'd have the energy to dunk those wide open bunnies that he couldn't convert.
