Again it has to be asked, where exactly does this idea that Walker would be seeing more minutes come from. Did a team official say something or is this just wild, rampant speculation on the part of Walker lovers everywhere.
Last year Tony Allen was a four year veteran with at least a proven track record of being able to give some quality minutes and was a good to very good individual defender. He saw next to no minutes of playoff time with that team.
Granted, that team was healthy, but does anyone really think that Doc Rivers is going to trust Bill Walker, a player with a whole 216 minutes of professional experience and who doesn't show any sign that he gets how to defend at a playoff level, with minutes when he has Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Brian Scalabrini and Tony Allen in front of him on the depth chart?
I just don't see how anyone can look at Doc's coaching history and think that he is going to give a completely unproven rookie any quality, meaningful minutes in a playoff game where the Celtics appear to need to capitalize on each and every possession of the basketball in order to win and move on. I just don't see it happening. Unless there's a blowout or Walker is in to play the last 20 seconds of a quarter, half or game, he isn't going to be playing.
