Sure, he hasn't contributed that much, but he also hasn't significantly hurt the team. You've got to remember, this is a guy who hasn't played in a year. Give him a break.

I'm expecting this guy to blow up in one of these rounds and win us a game. He's capable of pulling that off.  8)

Your thoughts?

I doubt he can do that, but I doubt even more that he'll be given the chance with the kind of playing time he's liable to get.

def man i feel u, i respect the fact that hes really looking to create scoring opportunities for others and im not gonna lie i wish he was a little more aggressive in finding his own shot but then again the guy is nervous to make mistakes and he hasnt had enough time to get the confidence back on the shot. Wit a fan base like this why wouldnt he be nervous, sumtimes i feel like fans here turn on their players too quickly and as far as defense goes hes been committed, i like the guy and i agree wit the poster above i can see him makin sum big plays down the road. every single team Steph plays for is worse off until he leaves.   Coincidence that the team becomes mediocre once he arrived?  I think not.   We will never be a contender again until we get rid of that loser

I strongly disagree with the poster above me. The team before Starbury was actually at the same level or even worse than we are now.

I think its mostly people that hated the idea of Marbury in green from way back when the rumors first started. They said he was a ball hog and would destroy our chemistry. So since he hasn't been a ball hog (actually he's been too unselfish) and has fit in well with the team, the same detractors want to attack him for something. He's a backup pg for a starter who plays major minutes. We don't need him to do much. Just protect the ball, be unselfish, and play decent defense. I think he's doing that. Yes, I'd rather have a little more offense, but if I could choose a "too unselfish" pg for the backup role or a "ball hog" like Cassell was for example, I'll take Marbury. I think Marbury should be getting more credit and mea culpas from celticsbloggers for the fact that he has been unselfish and a good teammate. He has proved many wrong.

I'd also prefer him to take more shots and be less selfish.

EDIT: Hopefully Marbury frequently reads his Twitter replies, because I just sent him an encouraging comment:
"@StarburyMarbury TAKE MORE SHOTS. You're too UNselfish. You need to shoot more 3's. Keep it up, though. You're a great asset to this team"

Hopefully, he takes these words from a loyal fan into consideration.

sarcasm? the team a) isn't mediocre and b) is struggling more than the beginning of the season because of injuries to key contributors - to blame steph for drop in team production is just off base

This is totally irrational.  There's no proof that Steph has been at all the cause of our current problems.  Not unless he has magic injury-causing powers.

That said, there's also no proof or support at all for the idea that Steph is going to have a "break-out" game and win one for us mostly by himself.  Steph is not Ray, Paul, or Rondo nor will he be given the opportunity to make an impact like any of those three.

Marbury didn't accomplish anything last night, but I think his lack of action was more a function of Rondo's ankle. You can't sit him down when his ankle's like that.

Still chuckling at the notion that Steph's an all-star -  ;D - but I really don't think he's responsible for our lack of depth, global warming, the credit crunch, etc.

Marbury has been ok as a backup point guard.  He has played with great effort and unselfishness.  But the fact is that the last 3 years weren't an illusion- he's not an above average nba point guard anymore.  But as far as his effort and style of play, I'm totally satisfied that he is playing the best he can.
