Go ahead, list your pet peeves here.

Here's one:
Calling a game "Must Win" when it really isn't.

Potential case in point would be if the media (or blog posters  ;) ) start calling Chicago v. Boston Game 2 a "Must Win" game for Boston.  It's not.
Celtics fan for life.

The NBA marketing of individuals rather than teams, which results in disproportionate and irrational fan interest in certain players, rather than the team they play on.

I don't care who's wearing the Green. I want the Celtics to win. Period.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

  • There can only be one.

Actually, yes it is. I don't wanna be negative here, but if we lose Game 2, the series, and ultimately the whole of the post-season, is done for us.

[dang] photographers within five or six feet of the baseline.
How is anyone supposed to fast break when they risk serious injury running into some jerk with a camera?
There should be at least 15 feet free and clear beyond the baseline.

1. Non true Celtic fans that chant "MVP" to Kobe Bryant. They give real Boston fans everywhere a bad name.

2. Non celtics fans who go to games when tickets are extremely hard to get. I went to a game last year against the Nets and the guy sitting next to me asked me what number pick in the draft we got Ray Allen with  ::)

3. Sasha Vujacic trying to play proffessional basketball.

OP is right about a "must win". The only must wins in any series are when the other team only has to win one more game to advance to the next round. Those are the only real "must wins."

Seeing a fantastic play during a game and it goes unmentioned or unnoticed by the commentators b/c theyre too busy talking about another game and/or Kobe/Lebron.

Commentators not knowing a players game but still trying to be a critic about it.  For example, when Tony Battie was here, his 18 foot baseline jumper was wet, but whenever he'd miss it, and the game was nationally televised, you'd always hear "That shots a little about Batties range, Jim Obrien cant be happy about that."  It drove me nuts.

Fans that know nothing about the sport or how its run trying to start arguements about stuff they know nothing about.  I have a friend of mine who tried to say that the Celtics 'bought' a championship.  My reply that it isnt true b/c the Celtics traded salaries they were already paying to recieve Garnett and Allen.  He told me that I was wrong about salaries having to match in NBA trades, and that there was no way Wally Szcerbiak was making that much money.

....after a few short minutes on the internet, he looked like a complete idiot.

Sports broadcasters who can't pronounce Rajon Rondo's first name correctly. Especially when the broadcasters are regular members of the CSNE/Celtics broadcast team, or the WEEI/Celtics broadcast team.

The a is pronounced like the a in father, not the a in faker, and the j is pronounced like the s in treasure, not the j in joke.

[rä'-zhon], not [rā'-jon], not [rā'-zhon].

How do I know the correct pronunciation? Simple. I've heard Rondo say his own name on TV and on the big screen at the Garden. "I'm Rajon Rondo." It doesn't get any simpler than that. Shame on Donny Marshall and others.

great point about the battie thing. used to happen during antoine's time here. "jim obrien cannot be happy with that shot". sometimes it was valid, often times, the commentator knew nothing.

your friend (who i am sure is otherwise a great guy) deserves a punch in the shoulder for that comment....way off base.

Broadcasters who say Joey Crawford is one of the best referees in the NBA, as I heard today when I watched the Lakers - Jazz game for about three minutes.

I hate it when people go to sporting events and all they to is text people. It is the most annoying thing ever.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Broadcasters who pander to the perceived emotional tides of America, instead of actually lookin at the guys who won something.

Like last season, the Boston Celtics were like Mike Jones.

Back then (girls) didn't want me, now Im hot they all on me.

We were the coolest kids in school. That is, until we faced anyone in the playoffs. Then ATL took us to 7, then Cleveland did too. THen we were like a leper bully who picked on younger girls and calld them stupid. Nobody gave us any respect, probably a cagey Detroit team was gonna whollop on us.

Then, after we killed detroit, everyone but Tim Legler (Who the heck is Tim Legler?!), picked the Boston Celtics to lose in 4 games to the world beater Los Angles Lakers.

Then, we beat them in 6, and Started out this season as underdogs.

So everyone out there that is employed by national news outlets that writes about basketball that is not named Tim Legler, I find you annoying. Can't wait for your next column which I will probably read then cry about on Celtics Blog.

To summarize, I don't like it when news outlets seem to take great joy in watching the best teams fail. Exhibit A: Picture a white, male, young, Celtics fan with a white or green underEdited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline., green or white Paul Pierce jersey on top of it, and backwards celtics hat. He's sad about something, his head is in his hands, inconsolable.

How many times have we seen that picture? I've lost count. They show it every time the Celtics lose a close game, or something bad happens. I think its the same kid from the draft lottery over and over again.

like that is always lethal." - Evan 'The God' Turner

99% of women at sporting events. (I know there are a few exceptions) They aren't there because they are TRULY interested and fans like we are. They just view it as a social event. When they try to start talking about the game in order to pretend like they know something about it I want to backhand them... They are there because their husband or boyfriend didn't have the guts to take his buddy. Stupid friends...

add 60% of men to that as well
God bless and good night!
