It's about time that management told him he has to be on the sidelines. It's a long time coming....He is not above the team!!!!

Exactly.  Do the right thing team leader.

by who's standereds? yours? why should the care one iota what you think a team leader's job is and weather KG is doing his part?

you are an anonymous internet poster with no knowledge of the team or how they feel about him being present on the sidelines or not. for all you know, when he's on the sidelines he irritates everyone and they prefer it this way, seeing him only pre-game, at half time, and post game.

As cor said, the amount of people on the internet who know exactly how the celtics players feel about things and how the club should be run at any given moment is mind boggling. I often wonder how doc and danny keep the team together with all this untapped GM and coach talent around.

Lol, its amazing the lengths a grown man will go to defend athlete.  I have never said he should care what I think but something in me tell me that athletes as a whole, not just KG should care about what fans think about them.  After all, their accomplishments and salaries would not be the same without us. You ever picture the Celts winning the championship in an empty gym?  You think that, his MVP award, or any other accomplishment would be worth a lick without the fans?

But I digress.  My knowledge of this specific team is as much as yours, therefore my opinion is just as valid as yours.  I'm sorry if you are offended for somebody calling out KG, but him not sitting on the sideline is plain selfish.  By all accounts, this team like eachother, therefore there is no reason to believe that he irritates his teammates.  If he did, there would be a serious problem and they would not be as cohesive when he actually does play.  Therefore your theoretical situation is wrong.  You have done nothing but insinuate that you know better than anyone else how the players feel, so before you cast a stone, please realize your hypocracy.

As I said, I know nothing about this specific teams organizational behavior. however as far as teams go, from elementary all the way up, we are taught that no one person is bigger than the game or more important than the team.  So what if KG can't stand not playing, he's not getting any minutes sitting in the locker room.  If he is truly the leader that everyone says he is, he will be with the team at all times.  Sitting in the locker room is not leadership, it is more akin to pouting which is detrimental to the team.  Paul and Ray have sat on the bench when they haven't played.  It's time for the leader to do so too.  He is in no way helping the team from the locker room.

This has nothing to do with any of that.  If you've ever played on a basketball team you need to have a unified team.  Sponsors get nothing out of KG being on the bench.  If you're part of a team, you're part of it at all times, not when you choose to be  part of it.  Support your guys if you're not doing anything.  Unless you've played on a team, you wouldn't know it makes a difference, but it does.  I'm sure it would be magnified with that guy supporting you being KG.

Yeah, I've played on a team, but I don't give importance to authority appeals.

You are confusing two things: 1) having a unified team, support your teammates, being with the team and 2) sitting on the bench during games.

Well, the owner, GM, and coach seem to think its important...

Oh, if those guys are saying it, I'm going to believe it. Oh wait...

Of course it's important, it'll make a much better TV show and fans will like to see him.

How can you claim to be unified with the team and support it if you are not with it at the only time that matters?  Sorry but we don't need his leadership at dinner, in the hotel room, at practice, we need it at least on the sideline where what happens matters.  He does much more than just sit on the bench.  Take a look at Lebron, regardless of whether you like his antics or not, they serve to pump up the team and create cohesion.  If he weren't on the bench, that would all disappear.  We don't even know if KG can bring that kind of spirit because he doesn't respect his teammates enough to sit with them because he's upset he can't play.  Get real.  Be a man and be with your team.

Whatever dude, that doesn't even make sense ::)

If you think the team has been "lying to you" like a lot of others fine - but there is no motive for lying and there has been on-court evidence that his presence on the sidelines has a positive affect on the team.

But its cool - get in line with the rest of the conspiracy clan...

jumping to conclusions, no one has once in the rush to denounce me as a loon who doesn't understand team sports in any way, shape or form and is simply a huge KG mark to ask me whether i thought he should be on the sidelines or not.

what makes me chuckle is how so many people know exactly what Celtics players, coaches, and staff think and whats best for them.

First of all, you should use spell check and take a grammar class, before you go flapping your lips!! Did you read what the owner said today?  He wants him on the sidelines during the playoffs.  I guess it doesn't matter to the owner, if KG irritates the players or not as you suggested.  Obviously, Wyc doesn't care, how the team feels about him being on the sidelines, he wants him there.......So do me a favor before you write anything, think before you write!!!!!

sorry, clearly your razor wit is to much for me. I apologize for having a different opinion than you, clearly that is something i should avoid in the future or face your terrible wraith. rest assured I will cry myself to sleep tonight and reconsider my entire path in life.

You sir, have won the internet. I bow down before you. all hail zubs.

P.S thanks ACF, TP. apparently your not allowed to have a different opinion than anyone today or you get personally attacked.
That's fine to have a personal opinion about the TEAM like you and I. But when you start with the 'anonymous internet poster' and 'you have no knowledge of the team' to the blogger that's different...

2. Do you have personal knowledge of the team? I certainly don't, if you do or are a Celtics staffer, i take the comment back, but until then i will assume that you, like me, are a fan far removed from the day to day operation of the team, and thus i don't understand how you can claim, as you do in your posts, to know exactly what players think of this kind of behavior.

And I don't think "the team has been lying to me". I think they obviously try to control information and do some spinning - for sports or business reasons - and that's their job. Nothing wrong with that. OTH, it seems you take every word that comes out of the organization religiously. I suppose you actually believed Ainge when he said that Rondo was in the gymn taking 300 jump-shots the day after Game 6 and stuff like that.

Anyway, we had this conversation when KG didn't come back from injury when scheduled and you were still arguing it was the announced muscle strain, although that would make no medical sense.

OK now that we know KG will be on the sidelines the next important question is when will J.R be back from the playoffs? KG'll look positively subdued next to his tireless and overly enthusiastic cheering from the bench.

I think JR Giddens may become the first player in NBA history to spontaneously combust on the sidelines during a playoff game.
