This has nothing to do with any of that.  If you've ever played on a basketball team you need to have a unified team.  Sponsors get nothing out of KG being on the bench.  If you're part of a team, you're part of it at all times, not when you choose to be  part of it.  Support your guys if you're not doing anything.  Unless you've played on a team, you wouldn't know it makes a difference, but it does.  I'm sure it would be magnified with that guy supporting you being KG.

Yeah, I've played on a team, but I don't give importance to authority appeals.

You are confusing two things: 1) having a unified team, support your teammates, being with the team and 2) sitting on the bench during games.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I've been meaning to bring this up for a long time but just haven't got around to doing it.  I always wondered why he didn't sit on the bench but you just answered my question and it is completely SELFISH.  You think Pierce likes not playing.  Do you think Ray does?  They both were on the bench on Wednesday.  KG couldnt be on the bench even then?  No one is bigger than the team and by doing this he clearly thinks he is.  If you're part of the team, you're part of the team at all times.  Get you butt on the bench KG and be a part of this team.  It's the least you could do.

so you weren't cool with paul not sitting on the bench during  year in a suit with the elbow injury right?

or does this only apply to KG because your in a bad mood today as we all are?

No, I could almost expect this news.  It has been bothering me for a while.  Anybody who does that is being selfish, honestly.  It has not been something Pierce habitually has done.  If he were doing the same I would get on him.  Like I said, NO ONE is bigger than the team.

paul has had one long term injury in his career, 2007.

He did not sit on the bench during that time, not even during the 22 game losing streak. so how do you gel giving paul a pass and saying its not "habitual" (which technically it is, the one time he's had a long term injury he was no where to be found around the bench until very near the end of his injury.) vs. your stance on KG?

It's about time that management told him he has to be on the sidelines. It's a long time coming....He is not above the team!!!!

Exactly.  Do the right thing team leader.

by who's standereds? yours? why should the care one iota what you think a team leader's job is and weather KG is doing his part?

you are an anonymous internet poster with no knowledge of the team or how they feel about him being present on the sidelines or not. for all you know, when he's on the sidelines he irritates everyone and they prefer it this way, seeing him only pre-game, at half time, and post game.

As cor said, the amount of people on the internet who know exactly how the celtics players feel about things and how the club should be run at any given moment is mind boggling. I often wonder how doc and danny keep the team together with all this untapped GM and coach talent around.

Thats a good point, and it is fair to compare those two situation... But lets face it, these are not similar circumstances. The celtics were in the midst of a dispicable losing streak in one of the worst seasons in franchise history. It was a lost cause, and Paul Pierce being out there would not have made a difference. He is not the emotional leader that KG is, especially back then.

oh i see, its ok to quit on young teammates because your not mature yet, but if your winning a whole 2 years later you have to show up.

not a front runner double standered at all.

EDIT: moot point anyway, he'll be there according to doc.

you know what, as messed up as it sounds, yes. Maybe it is a double standard, but I honestly think that if Pierce were to get hurt (God forbin), he would be on the sidelines. Obviously theres no way of knowing that for sure, but I dont think he would just not be there for his teammates... Anyway, like you said, moot point. when/where did Doc say this?

Yeah, I've played on a team, but I don't give importance to authority appeals.

Well, the owner, GM, and coach seem to think its important and the team performed substantially better defensively in the 4 games he returned EVEN WHEN HE WAS NOT ON THE COURT.

So, I do believe that there is an impact when he is there communicating from the sidelines - hell, he can still call out defensive assigments and get people back in line from the sidelines.

I think his presence there matters a great deal...

First of all, you should use spell check and take a grammar class, before you go flapping your lips!! Did you read what the owner said today?  He wants him on the sidelines during the playoffs.  I guess it doesn't matter to the owner, if KG irritates the players or not as you suggested.  Obviously, Wyc doesn't care, how the team feels about him being on the sidelines, he wants him there.......So do me a favor before you write anything, think before you write!!!!!

Tons of pent up hostility with the KG news... Today is not a happy day.

If the Bruins lose tonight today would REALLY suck.
