I'm going to try to stop feeling crushed about the news for a moment and think about what to do with the lineup.

I suppose the safe thing to do is simply rotate Baby and Powe at the power forward spot, with Perk and Moore at Center.  I would imagine Baby starts over Powe, due to Powe's recent health and Baby's productive play.

Or does Doc shake things up and go small for extended periods?  Playing Rondo, House, Ray, Pierce and Perk?  That would put our 5 best players on the floor.

Any news on Scalabrine?

It would be great if he could comeback.

I think they will just have to keep doing what they have been doing without KG, except now we have Leon added to the mix.  We are still going to be a very tough team, athough the chances are good that we will fall a little short against Cleveland.  If we do somehow manage to get to the finals, I think we are good enough even without KG to beat LA or whoever else from the west.

The team says it's 50/50 that he returns for some playoff action.  Scal says he's shooting for 2nd round action.

Having Baby as a scoring option off the bench was pretty nice last night.  But the way his mid-range jumper has developed, I think he fits better with the overall offensive scheme of the 1st unit.  The bench scoring will come from TA, Steph and House.

I like the matchups for us in the 1st 2 rounds.  But against Cleveland, our guys are too small.  We're likely to get killed in that series unless something completely unexpected happens.

Not only does this hurt this year, but it will hurt next year too - as the featured frontcourt duo on a team bound to win at least one series, Powe and Baby are really driving up the price next year.
"All I have to know is, he's my coach, and I follow his lead. He didn't have to say anything in here this week. We all knew what we had to do. He's a big part of our family, and we're like his extended family. And we did what good families do when one of their own is affected." - Teddy Bruschi

During last night's broadcast Mike said that Scal really feels he's ready to return, but that the doctors are not allowing him to as they feel he is not ready and are making him stick to the recovery schedule they initially gave him. Best case scenario is that he's ready for game 1 of round 2.

You're absolutely right.  I hadn't thought of that.  Their agents are probably high fiving everybody in sight right now.  Ugh!!

The strategy is to pray hope Allen and Pierce can light up opposing teams every game. If this does not happen, we won't be getting past the second round.

I suppose the real question is who starts up front alongside Perk, and how the minutes are distributed.

While I initially assumed Baby would start, it appears from last night performance that Powe is healthy.  Powe is a better rebounder than Baby, so maybe Doc favors him in the starting lineup.

But I like the Perk/Baby duo and the Powe/Moore duo because it ensure we have one banger and one jump shooter up front at all times.

I still think Doc will go small a lot, especially early in the playoffs, using Pierce and Ray at forwards, with Rondo and House in the backcourt.  Not saying I like it, but Doc does sometimes like to go small.

Ugh.  No KG.

I feel we are still good enough to make ecf, getting beyond that without kg will be really REALLY tough.
Start Powe he's a double double guy every night.  Moore just went from playoff rotation of 10 minutes up.  Little noticed thing is Perk has stepped up his game, he'll need to play great from now on  :-\
We have Pierce which is an x factor in any close game.  Ray & Eddie need to shoot lights out.  And last but not least our young future star needs to dominate everyone he plays.

lets see.....start slow.....battle back to get a 7-10 point lead.....let the other team back in during the third and try to rally in the 4th for a win....that seems to be the MO as of late...i just don't see this team doing much without KG...heck...to me the bulls aren't even a gimmie now

The rest of my work week just became comatose.

We are going to need to super efforts by PP and RA, lets say minimum 23 pt plus each.

Add to that huge leap and growth by Rondo who will also need to score high teens with 10 plus assists per game with his usual grabbing of rebounds. If we can get the Rondo who took over games this season to show up every game in the playoffs, it could make a huge difference. I would have to say he is the most important player on our team right now and without him rising to the occassion, we might not make it out of first round.

Perkins needs to be a beast inside and I mean BEAST...Any game with less then 10 boards is not acceptable. He also needs to be smart with his early fouls.

Powe/Baby will need to find a way to grab 10 plus boards a game and also contribute on the scoring end. House will need his usual 3 pt sharpshooting heroics as well and Marbury will need to rise up to the challenge and finally awaken the old star in him. TA will need to control the ball, and play tough, scrappy defense.

Tough scrappy defense by everyone is a necessity as well. In order for us to advance to conference finals, we will most likely need to win ugly and I would expect each game to go down to the wire.
