I'm in my 32nd year of Federal service in the Air Traffic Control biz. Four years as an Army tower controller, the rest with the FAA.
Started as a radar controller, have since done various types of staff work, became a front line supervisor, and a manager.
I'm currently an operations manager at a major radar center. I manage 6 first level supervisors and their teams of controllers, and I oversee the operations of the facility during my shift.
I am retirement-eligible, and within the next five years I hope to be financially set to retire and do non-paying/low-paying work that interests me, like community service, or short order cook. Ideally, my wife and I would like to do something together.
