Seems like a big slap to the face of the rest of this years class.

Seems like a big slap to the face of the rest of this years class.

Seems like Scoop being Scoop:

Quote
For the others to get the attention and respect they deserve, Jordan must not be around on their day. Not in the crowd, not in the state, not even passing through. If he is (and he will be), for the others, it'll be like a bride getting upstaged on her wedding day … by her own mother.

Even if he had a valid point, he makes it hard for me to take him seriously.

I don't think his point is very valid. Having John Stockton and David Robinson in there with him doesn't detract from his status. Stockton is very arguably the greatest true PG to ever play the game. David Robinson is one of the better centers ever and a class act. If I were Jordan I would be honored to be put in there with these two. If he isn't, then I really don't care anyway. If you are that arrogant then you deserve to be humbled a bit.

Come on, enough of putting the guy on a pedestal.  Yeh, I think he's the greatest ever, but the other guys were Top 50 players too.  No need to put him in bu himself.

Why not just make a new Hall of Fame for guys that were reaaaaaaaally great, and not just your run of the mill Hall of Famers?  ::)

How about his own hall?

Build the Hall of Jordan right on top of the Hall of Fame.

If Bill Russell (11 rings, two NCAA championships, Olympic gold medal, NBA's first black coach) wasn't inducted by himself, nobody should be.

I think that's a pretty weak argument.  I think this will be known as a great Hall of Fame class, not MJ HOF.  It's like the 2003 Draft.  As good as Lebron is, the draft is not known as only LJ draft.  People remember Wade, Melo, Bosh and all the other players from that draft.  He might view it this way, but just because he views it like that doesn't mean that true basketball fans will not appreciate the greatness of Stockton and Robinson, just to name a few.

There is nothing that will stop me from not going to this event. Can't wait.

Is Jordan going to thank Larry Bird and Magic Johnson in his speech for giving him a league worth a crap so that he could then become the global superstar he became?

I hear they are planning to close the Hall of Fame this year in honor of Jordan.

Completely off topic, but I once went to a 24 hour diner and got some food to go.  When paying for the food the waitress/hostess replied:  "Ya'll don't want no silverware or no nothing."

The first and last quadruple negative I have ever come across.

I like Scoop, but a guy who is maybe the 6th or 7th best player of all time and not even the best at his position doesn't deserve that. It's absurd
