In this order:

1. The Ramones - They started it all for god sakes!

2. Screeching Weasel - Went strong for 15 years carrying the torch. Major influence of Blink182

3. Rancid - Borderline ska feel they can still be included in this category.

4. NoFX - They have been going at this forever.

5. Operation Ivy - Only lasted 2 years but rewrote the book.

6. Green Day - Dookie and before

7. Bad Religon - helped start it all.

8. Vandals - Helped start it all.

9. Blink182 - Dude Ranch and before

10. The Queers - At least one New England band needs to be represented.

Hmm... Not sure they crack the top ten. Who would you take off this list for Goldfinger?  Not to mention I'd put Goldfinger more in the ska genre no?

I never really considered Goldfinger ska, mostly because the only ska songs they made, they made when everyone else (Less than Jake, NoFX) were using horns as well. Its not like they're Reel Big Fish or anything (though RBF is one of my favorite all time bands), and Superman? Thats like the essence of Pop Punk.

Yeah, if we're talking about straight up punk the Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Misfits and Clash would have to be mentioned.

You can't listen to that song and not see some kid riding a skateboard. Look, there goes one now....

Not sure if they classify as punk-pop, but MC5 is an underrated all-time great band. They played loud and fast, and were a little ahead of their time.

Not sure if I'd call them punk, but proto-punk, perhaps.

I would figure the B-52's would have to be in this discussion somewhere. I can't imagine someone listing the top Punk-Pop bands of all time and not mention the B-52's.

I've listened to a fair amount of social d...and I don't think you can call them pop anything..they're a great band but maybe we ought to just call them punk...same goes for The Vandals, and Operation Ivy, no?

What's the definition of punk-pop bands?  I think a lot of those bands you listed would be much more along the lines of classic punk.

In general, good list though.  I would have a tough time ranking them, but a couple others I would put in there would be Goldfinger (good call IP), Mr. T Experience (who IMO were one of the real "Pop-Punk" bands like Green-Day and Blink-182.

I also think you would need to put Nirvana in there as well.

I also take offense to the whole "Dookie and before" thing with Green Day.  They had some excellent stuff after Dookie (although that is their best album).
