I have a few friends that absolutely HATE Tony Allen. I personally don't mind him and thinks he brings some good things to the team. However, I don't really see too much hatred towards him or made up trade proposals on this message board.

But I do understand why some of my friends don't like him...

Thoughts?

He needs to be traded, waived, whatever in the off-season and a serious effort made to bring in a quality wing with offensive skills, particularly an outside shot, who plays hard and can defend.

The experiment has failed. Let's move on.

Poor bugger always has some injury hampering him which is a shame. But I agree it may be time to replace him this offseason. We have two promising rookies who may be able to expand into tony's perceived role on the team. I'm sure we can find a vet who can share the role with billy or jr next season. Till then we can only hope scal and tony are health through the passionfruit.

I am the biggest TA fan on the planet.

Yeah, the reason you haven't seen much negative TA commentary around here (also, how far back in both the forum and front page archives did you check?...because it's there, I assure you) is because everyone is terrified of incurring the wrath of BrickJames, president of the TA fan club.

You need some TA hype, Brick is your guy, lemme tell ya...

I don't mind him at all, despite all of the TO's he has produced in the past.

Sadly, I immediately remember his ACL-dunk injury and his bite on Billup's fake from last year. But, I also recall him not biting on Ginobili's fake in an ugly ending of a Spurs-Celts game when Ginobili kept trying to flop and draw a foul in the final minute, and it ultimately failed (in a game in '08). Then the Celts won!!!

Too bad he's not healthy  :(

I like the energy he brings off the bench. Sometimes, I'll admit he gets a little carried away and starts to do WAY too much with the ball (like dribble), but for the most part I like his aggressiveness and tough defense.

To think about how much more dangerous he would be with a jump shot :-X

TA does what Marbury's supposed to do: Drive in the hoop and make it rain.

Once we get TA back, #18 baby!

Tony will probably have nagging injuries throughout his career with the way he plays with reckless abandon at times. It took a while after his knee surgery, but he did start to bring that style of play back. If Walker can continue to get better and work hard on his jumper, TA and Walker will make a great tandem off the bench behind Ray and Paul.
If we are looking to trade TA, then I would put him with House and Scal as expiring contracts for teams trying to get under the cap in 2010. We could land some good talent and the team picking up TA and House could try to sign a star player then re-sign these guys as role players.

I think a lot of people forget or don't realize that TA averaged almost 8 points a game in 19 minutes prior to his injury. That's a pretty good contribution, and his defensive skills are above average for a guard. I certainly miss TA and hope he returns before playoff time, because Bill Walker isn't ready to fill those shoes yet.

I stopped hating on Tony once Brick let me have his tickets once. After that it just didn't seem right to zoo all over Tony. Besides, he might need to get rid of his tickets again and like Steve said, I didn't want to incur the wrath of the Brick man.
