who cares about turkoglu..and our defense has been pretty much perfect on him all season, sometimes he just makes shots. Im not concerned about finishing 3rd if we do at this point...we already have to win on the road to win it all, might as well start in orlando

all the celtics fans switch to the knick/magic game, the knicks lose their 10 pt lead and the magic get there first lead since the 1st quarter with under 3 minutes to play

Its too bad we had to lose to that crap team this season...1 of a handful of losses that just shouldnt happen.. I believe we were fully healthy then too

Unfortunately Gorman summed up BBD tonight when he said after a 6th or 7th miss inside... "BBD can't finish". Why he tries to score around the rim is completely beyond me. He has so little lift that he has no chance of scoring on bigger players. Stay outside and shoot the ball where you belong please.

This goes back to the discussion between him and Powe. When Powe isn't scoring he at least can rebound the basketball. 3 boards in 30 minutes BBD?! He ended up with a few deflections that gave him some steals, but other than that he was awful tonight. Poor defensive rotation (I have to believe his ankle is still not 100% and so it is slowing him down on this) and a bunch of forced plays inside he had no chance of converting. When he learns that this just isn't going to ever work he will be a much better player.

Not a huge suprise BBD has a subpar game and you come around to point it out and then bring up comparisons with leon...
BBD is fine, and has been playing great lately..and if you didnt notice alot of celtics were missing around the rim tonight, when BBD has the oppurtunity he CAN finish around the hoop and shouldnt avoid it when hes in position too...

also funny to hear people say "get out where you belong and shoot the ball" when earlier in the season people were complaining about the exact opposite

The Leon versus Powe thing has been an ongoing discussion in multiple threads. I have given a lot of compliments to BBD lately as the guy has been playing much smarter basketball and has worked hard at slimming down lately to get his next contract. On the other hand he reverted back to the bad rookie level BBD we saw often last year. He CAN NOT finish around the rim and the numbers and results show that. The guy can't jump, is undersized, and has short arms to boot. Other PF's and Centers love for him to be down there as they know they usually can get 2-3 blocks a game when he does. If he is smart he will do what has made him effective lately and that is the high pick and roll where he gets the shot, or slipping down to the baseline and having it kicked out to him. I don't recall ANYONE telling the guy to go down low. We all know he can't finish around the rim. Gorman does as well...

I have to disagree.  BBD and Leon are both undersized, but are remarkably good around the basket.  They know how to use their bodies to hold off defenders and avoid a lot of blocked shots that way.  BBD has been very good in this regard since his LSU days.  Ask everyone around the SEC who played against him. Problem is, with he and Leon they both fall into that "hoping for contact" thing sometimes when they are tired or not focused and they blow open layups.

Now, what I am most impressed about in regards to BBD is that he has developed that jumper more to compliment his game.  This way, he doesn't have to be a finisher at the rim all the time.  Leon should learn from that.

Last night was just an off night by BBD.  Paul Pierce missed several layups himself and had an off night too.  Baby will be important come playoff time, especially if Leon is not available as some are now speculating.  I just think he is adjusting to extended minutes with Leon out and that maybe he is a bit tired.  Overall, though, Baby has been winning me over.

I'll have to agree and disagree here RAcker.

Powe definitely can finish around the rim despite his being undersized because of two things. He can jump a lot higher, and he has VERY long arms for his height. He also knows that when you are down there you have to dunk the ball.

BBD on the other hand has not been able to finish around the rim ever since he got in the NBA. He WAS effective at LSU, but that was because he wasn't down there with bigger more athletic guys like he is now. Other than the fluke game here and there, BBD has continually gotten his shot blocked down there and THAT is why he developed the outside jumper. He was benched for most of the end of last year due to his inability to add anything offensive. That is why Powe replaced him in the 2nd unit.

So we play like crap out there and we are supposed to come on and say "great job boys" and never comment on anything else?! You can live in a dreamland if you want to, but I want to win a championship.

This is the kind of thinking that got us full of ourselves when we were on that big winning streak where we were barely winning games we should have blown them out. It does no good to pretend we are better than we are. Paul may have had an off night offensively, but he was playing very well at every other level. BBD was terrible on both ends. He has to stop trying to do things he can't do.
