I'm honestly puzzled as to why bill walker gets so much more praise than giddens. Walker yes has terrific dunking skills but he looks sluggish  on the court, doesn't seem like has the footwork to defend quick sf. He almost seems like a tweener between a pf/sf

The few mins i have seen giddens i personally have been impressed. He made some bad rookie mistakes a couple of times but the guy plays "alive" in the same mold rondo plays. His penetration, passing and even shooting touches looked pat down plus his involving ways on defense was nice to see.

Not sure if rivers values walkers close to nba ready body vs giddens frailer body but i can't see how walker is vast superior in knowing plays, offense and defense to warrant playing time compared to giddens getting none.

I more or less agree with you.  A couple things I can think of are that Giddens did have an injury to his hand for a while, and there was some news report of some sort earlier in the season that Giddens was slow to learn his role.  Who knows.  But I imagine Giddens will get substantially more PT next year (~10 mins/game).  Personally, I am excited by Giddens.
Celtics fan for life.

Well, you may have a point.  I think it's too early to say.  But at this point, Doc isn't playing him, so there's no point in having him rot on the bench.  Might as well try to develop him.  Plus, with the team finally getting healthy, it's likely that Walker is going to lose most of his minutes (see last night).  So I don't think this is a huge deal.  When you have a contender with aging vets, developing late first round-early second round talent isn't a priority.

You are basing this on what ... his 5 minutes of playing time this year?  LOL.  I am the biggest Giddens supporter (New Mexico Lobo fan), but there is no way to form any opinion on JR this year because Doc hasn't given him a chance.  So, clearly he's not showing something in practice.  Let him play down in the D-leauge, it will be better for him than his ML Carr impersonation for the C's; he can fill that role come playoff time!
