Maybe the emergency roster additions are right on their own bench.  Pruitt was the best player in the D-league last year, and Giddens and Walker were the best players in the D-league this year.  Maybe they ought to put those guys in for more than two seconds and see what happens.

Pruitt, Giddens and Walker were average in D-League... and they suck in the NBA

Exactly. I was at last night's game and Walker was terrible. I thought he and Mikki Moore were competing to see who could miss more defensive rotations and pick up more senseless fouls. If we're relying on Pruitt, Walker, or Giddens to do more than carry bags from the team bus then we are in trouble.

So what?  If Rondo doesn't play they're going to get clobbered anyway.  Give Pierce and Ray Allen a rest, and put Barfbury at the end of the bench.

Average in the D league?? You didn't watch them and that's the only reasonable conclusion I could come up with.

Maybe average is an understatement, but they weren't spectacular either.  They all were productive, but were no better than maybe top 20-30 players in the league.  Granted, they were working on specific things, so stats may not show everything, but I think it was absolutely an exageration to say they were the BEST players in the league.

Whether you like it or not, Marbury will be the backup PG come playoff time.  Putting him at the end of the bench does absolutely nothing to help the team.

If they really were just going to mail it in (which they won't...and shouldn't), the smart thing would be to give Marbury a ton of minutes to try to get him more up to speed, rather than playing guys who are not going to see the floor in the playoffs.

Putting him at the end of the bench is addition by subtraction.

If Rivers has incentive compensation riding on the playoffs, he would be better served by benching Marbury.

Would be interesting to see if such a move would, in theory, light a fire under this guy.  After the NY debacle, He must know he's about 15 regular season games away from playing for Italy next year...

Marbury will be lucky to get a job in Italy next year, unless it's with a Serie B or C team.

If I were he I'd try China.

This injury pileup is playing out like an extremely bad joke. The team probably feels like its a nightmare they can't wake up from.
Its probably not fair to the 5 or 6 fully healthy guys but I hope Doc plays them the bulk of the minutes so Pierce and Rondo don't play as much.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Thanks for the tip, my down south friend.  Getting Ray back would hopefully be an indication that he's OK.  I'm really hoping our new and young guys are ready to deal out a little payback tonight.

Giddens, Pruitt and Walker do not suck, but I always get a kick out of how people overrate the talent on the bench.

I'm surprised by this comment, by my count Pruitt and esp Walker have NOT sucked, JR gets a pass till we see him play more but he's been ok in short stints, right?  Suck?  I just don't see that...

Suck? That's overly harsh. Walker has been fine in the limited minutes he's played. Giddens hasn't had any court time at all, and Pruitt hasn't gotten steady minutes once this year.

Got it out just before I did  ;)

I have to agree. Walker has been decent, and both Walker and Giddens were good in the D-league. I have no idea how someone could say they weren't good in the D-league. Sounds like hyperbole, or they are thinking of POB.

Did anyone think Walker wouldn't have problems with rotations for a while? There was a reason Doc kept him on the bench. But they have no choice. Pierce can only play so much PF and Center. Remember that Walker is playing way out of position too. He is playing a lot of PF. And no one's rotations looked good in the second half.
