The future at backup guard will come when Ainge uses his #58 pick on 6'3" 190lbs Lester Hudson (recorded the first quadruple-double in Division 1 men’s basketball history).

NBADRAFT.NET:
"Talented combo guard with excellent NBA potential ... Prolific scorer, (over 25 ppg) ... Has a quick first step and a killer crossover allowing him to blow by defenders and get into the paint ... Does a good job of creating baskets for himself and others ... Has precision passes for ally oops even from well beyond the three point arc ... drives exceptionally well, with defenses collapsing on him ... Has a great shot off the dribble, and is able to hit it going straight up or fading away ... Has a terrific body for a point guard with size, length and strength ... Can put points up in a hurry. Advanced mid-range game ... Shows excellent vision and passing ability ... A great defender. A bigtime ball hawk, fourth in the nation in steals ... Shows great anticipation and his quick hands and feet make him a tremendous on ball defender ... Gets good lift on his shot and shows a solid shooting form ... An excellent shooter with 3-point range and consistency on his shot. Shoots threes at a high volume and great efficiency ... His form and strength should allow him to step back 5 feet and hit the pro three with consistency in time ... His body strength allows him to finish after contact, play physical and also helps his range ... Knocks down free throws at a high percentage >80% ... Solid rebounder for his position. Plays bigger than 6-3 with his long wing span ... Unlike many prolific scorers, Hudson is unselfish getting teammates involved offensively, creating easy baskets for them ... Clutch player who comes up with big shots when his team needs them ... Highly competitive ..."

From this, i see no reason he should be around at 56 (he sounds very good) whats the catch?

FAR too early for a final evaluation on Marbury - and Moore, for that matter.

Steph's not in shape and he doesn't have his legs. We're going to spend much of the rest of the regular season trying to get these two to a level where they contribute to the team.

There's no other choice but to work them in. If we wanted options, Ainge needed to do a better job building a bench last summer.

No it isn't too early.  Marbury is in perfectly good shape.  He just sucks.

Just cut Marbury.  Addition by subtraction.  I don't care if they sign a replacement or not.

How do you know he's in good shape?  and how is two weeks and 3 practices to learn a brand new offense "enough?"

sam cassell and PJ both looked god awful for almost a month before either one showed signs of life. Sam was never super useful imo, but he got better, and PJ was huge for us come playoff time.

But for that first month and a half of PJ's time, overreaction threads like this popped up all the time about how useless he was going to be and why oh why is he stealing BBD's minutes.

snap judgment is so ridculous on celtics blog it astounds me sometimes.

Yes, that't the perfect solution.  Addition by subtraction for a team that's already down to 10 players.  ::)

Funny, so now Cassell was the key and when he was here everybody wanted him out. Marbury will help, he is just not ready. People need to be patient.

Good shape and NBA shape are two differnt things.

Remember, before joing the Celtics, he has played in only 24 "meainful" games the past two seasons.  (and I say "meaningful" because it is hard to call knicks games last year meaningfull)

Give him some time to get hsi legs under him.

And remember, he doesn't need to be an all-star, just a 10-15 minute player come playoff time.

Apparently his stock takes a hit due to his age (hes 24) and he has no exposure to top competition. Chad Forde has him waaaay down on his board. He's certainly worth a look.

Of all the picks in the late first round on down, Hudson is probably the one with the most star potential. Not unlike Powe and Walker.

And he will probably be picked late due to question marks:

1) From DRAFTEXPRESS: "By now you’ve probably heard of Lester Hudson. If you have, you’ve probably heard about his amazing story: how he failed to graduate from high school or junior college; how he wound up at the University of Tennessee-Martin, and of course, the jaw dropping numbers. In his first three games played at the Division 1 level, Hudson torched national runner-up Memphis for 35 points, and recorded the first quadruple-double in Division 1 men’s basketball history."

2)He will be 25 years old this summer.

But he sounds humble, hungry, and talented project. And Ainge wants a big backup pg that Welcsh, Orion Greene, Gabe Pruitt, and TA never/hasn't turned into.

Looks like we won't be needing Cassell after all. ;D

Marbury looked good last night.

Marbury looked good last night.

Well, he looked adequate, but Gabe Pruitt could have been just as productive with those minutes.

If you can't see why Stephon Marbury is better for this team this season than Gabe Pruitt, I don't know what to tell ya.

Gabe has some great tools but right now Gabe is an athlete, while Marbury is a basketball player.  Marbury finally looked good last night.
