Just when I thought there was going to be an interesting finish to this Magic game the refs totally shut that down.  Although it was probably the right call to make its tough to see a game decided by an off the ball foul.  25 seconds left in the game let the players play I'm sure there arent many people out there who would rather see a ref decide a game then the players finish it off.
The NBA..where "this whole sport is a business and the referees decide games and David Stern is a snake and is only in this for the money" happens.

The players did decide it.  Leon violated the rules by impeding Lewis' progress on that play.  The refs enforced the rules so as to allow the players to decide the game as per the rulebook.

They would have been a lot more responsible had they not blown that whistle.

We lost today.  The refs didn't lose it for us.

I thought the refs were terrible today and basically gave the Magic the game.

Completely agree, I've just written the same in the game thread. Very good call.

Can't argue today, we had a fair share of calls go our way. The players decided this game when they fell asleep coming into this game. How do you score 33points in a half? And then you would think they start out the 3rd Q running but didn't. They finally woke up in the final 2 minutes of the 3rd Q and it was a little too late.

Game ball for goes to three guys (Ray, Leon, and Eddie). They pretty much carried us this game, and Paul just looked confused the whole game. Everyone knew Ray had the hot hand but he decided to take the game over & became a TurnOver machine.

The bad thing about this game is that we lost another body. BBD twisted his ankle and it doesn't look good when a 300lbs + guy falls awkwardly on his ankle. He'll prob be out a week or 2. Too many missing bodies, and now Doc is forced to shorten the rotation which means a lot of minutes to Marbury & Mikki and that not good. Its going to be a rough week this week

Yeah, let's diss the refs when they
deserve it, not as a rule.

Actually Cordobes I think what Steve W is saying, along with the rest of us, is that there's no consistency on how these games are being called.  I have no problem with the impeding progress (stiff arm) call against Leon, but call it that way EVERY game.  Now you think they would have called that in the same situation if the Spurs or Lakers where playing?

I see that type of play all the time on League Pass at the end of tight games and guess what?? .....no call

that is the NBA...the refs control when teams make runs and when teams stop making them

If we're complaining about the refs and how they impacted today's game...  what about that fourth foul on Howard that sent him to the bench?

Yeah, the no-foul.

The refs were pretty bad today, but they didn't give the Magic the game.  That last call on Leon was a bad call as I think that Lewis initiated the contact at first and there was wrestling going both ways.  It would have been a better no call.    But that 4th foul on Howard where he didn't touch Ray and a few others that went the Celtics way were very bad calls also. The refs were bad, but they were bad both ways.   It wasn't like the Cleveland game where it was almost totally one sided.

boston lost this game in the first half...down 7 after one and then down 18 in the second killed them...made a good effort without 5 key guys...still waiting to see this team at full strength

To clarify, cordobes and I are on the same page here, although I agree with part of the point you're making, xavier.  I'd love for the games to be called consistently, and even more so than game to game, it's the minute-to-minute stuff that annoys me.  A foul is a foul is a foul, be it in the first minute or the 48th.  The idea that that putting the whistles away and turning the game into a zoo in the final minute "lets the players decide it" is absurd.

That said, I've got zero problem with the call made on Leon at the end today, just as cordobes notes.

i just don't see orlando beating boston in a 7 game series with all of the celtics bullets available....the had a tough tough match up today without KG and losing baby compounded it...i also thin rondo would run circles around alston if he played healthy today
