On the Big Show today,Danny Ainge told the Big O,that Mikki Moore was his first choice all alone. When asked if he had waited he could have signed Joe Smith,he replied "we wanted Mikki first,he has a better 15ft jumper than Smith and brings more energy on the court.

Gooden has the best stats of these guys, but he doesn't really scare me.  Cleveland didn't really seem to miss him all that much after they traded him for Ben Wallace (the conventional wisdom at the time was that the Big Ben trade was a steal from Cleveland's perspective).  Better than Mikki Moore?  Sure, but I'm more confident Moore will learn the defense quickly; my recollection of the Gooden chatter from last year was that he'd been in Cleveland for four years but hadn't figured out the rotations yet.

My hope for Moore is that he's at least long enough where he'll be able to put a hand in the face of Big Z (and hopefully Pau).

Still, whether we beat Cleveland or they beat us depends mostly on

1. Whether Pierce can slow down LeBron
2. Whether the officials will LET Pierce slow down LeBron
3. Whether Mo Williams destroys Ray Allen, Eddie Money, Starbury, and everyone else we put on him

This isn't a team we win or lose to because of the end of our respective rotations.

So San Antonio gets Gooden, Cleveland gets Smith and we get Mikki Moore. Not one of Danny's better moments.

  We also got Marbury...

smith>moore>gooden
moore starbury >>>>>>>>>>>>smith>gooden

gooden is garbage
Gooden can hit a 15 ft jumper that Wallace cannot. Wallace is a slightly better overall defender when he is healthy. Neither is a big problem for us, each would be lining up against Perk and would be handled. With the type of team the Cavaliers had last year and this year, I think Gooden was better for them than Ben Wallace as a PF. Just my opinion, I never said I wanted either of them as Celtics. We beat them last year when they had Gooden and when they had Wallace. We beat them with Smith as well, so his addition is not a big deal to me. Again, just my opinion.

We definitely are ahead of the game with getting Marbury as a bench compliment. This includes all of the previously mentioned and Swift out in Phoenix as well. If Marbury can become a consistent factor offensively, we are much more dangerous. Bench scoring is going to be critical in the playoffs.

Well, while Mikki Moore is probably inferior to Smith and Gooden, Marbury has more upside than the three of them combined.  Still, it remains to be seen if he can make it come to fruition.

As for the outside shot of them signing someone else before the season is out, I think Pruitt is the clear choice to cut.  While you could argue that he's proven more than Walker or Giddens, he's also not guaranteed beyond this season (team option next year).  So it just makes simple financial sense to cut him. Walker and Giddens are both guaranteed next year.
