Guess what? It's snowing out............again.

I wrote an article last winter about my utter distaste for this particular form of fluffy white precipitation but just thought I would reiterrate what a thoroughly annoying thing snow is in particular and winter ios in general.

School closings...you can keep them. Parking bans...their all yours. Shovels, ice melt, gloves, hats, boots, long underwear, scarves, winter jackets...I hate them all. Skiing and sledding and toboganning and tubing...yeah...just ridiculous ways to break bones and jack up medical bills.

And why is it that weather guys on the evening news all act like virgin teenagers just about to lose their cherry every time that a storm is going to dump another foot of snow on us and aggravate the crap out of me? I mean, it has to be the only profession where you can be wrong 50% of the time and get a raise at the end of the year. The self importance these guys prop themselves up on because they can look at a radar and say It's gonna snow or rain or be sunny is just amazing.

I hate them all.

Winter and snow shoveling is nothing more than the Devil's way of torturing people in cold weather climates. If jack Bauer ever wanted to get me to talk he wouldn't need pharmacuatical torture or a gun to my head. All he'd have to do is drop me in the middle of Canada in January with a shovel and no other way home. I'd be giving up government secrets in seconds at just the thought of that threat.

My back hurts just thinking about having to shovel again. Is there anything that drives any of your more nuts than to just finish shoveling out your driveway and seeing a plow turn onto your street with a big ass grin on his face?

Snow, ice, wind chill, sub freezing temperatures...ugh! I think winter will eventually be the death of me. I hate this stuff.

I'm on my way soon...another 3 years probably. I figure I'll buy a house down there later this year when the market bottoms out and I can get top dollar value and then move down there after my youngest finishes high school up here.

Snow is for children, or the people who don't have to clean it up...

Count me as one of your fellow Snow Haters.

good to hear...we love it here.  my wife and i have 4 children (3 in elementary school) and finally bought a house once we settled in.

it's a 4 bedroom place in a golf course community, about 20 minutes NE of Tampa.  We can get to Orland in slightly less than an hour and a half and are 45 minutes from the beach.

we bought our place for $200k...it's only 5 years old.  the family we bought it from was moving to virginia (job related) last may, and they only had the place for less than 2 years and their purchase price was $276k - so we got a steal, and could have never afforded this place then ourselves.

it is totally a buyers market here, and there are plenty of places available.  i hope it works out for you...

I feel for you guys.  It's been unseasonable mild here.  In the 80s yesterday.  I took this photo (this place is 5 minutes from my house) about two weeks ago:

Although, on top of those mountains in the distance, there was a bit of snow  :P

Nick if you got a kid in the high school range, what's the problem?  Give him/her the shovel and just tell them if you can't feel your toes and the driveway isn't done you're not moving fast enough.  I thought that was the whole reason to have kids, no?

Never too young to get them started.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I hear what you're saying.  I love snow in December, when it's young and fresh.  It's something new and adventurous.  We can gaze at the snow glazed trees, the fresh flurries lighting up the dark night, the adventure of driving your car and doing donuts at an untraveled parking lot.

But by March, you are absolutely sick of snow.  You are sick of the ice and blocks of salt building around your car, the back ache of shoveling the driveway, the torture of walking to class at sub-zero weather.  It's time to end.
Baby Jesus!
