Hubie is a good commentator -- but he gets on my nerves after awhile. He's best in small doses.

I agree with Who. I think the thing that gets on my nerves after a while is his overreliance on verbal crutches such as, "at a high percentage" or "If you are (fill in the blank), then you like the fact that."
“Being a Celtic is, every decision you make is about the team. Every cut you make is about the team. Every pass you make is about the team. You take yourself out of it. It’s not for everyone. If you don’t want to win, don’t want to play team basketball, and it’s more about you then you’re probably not a Celtic." Doc 2010

he's the john hollinger of broadcasters. "so and so shoots 42.9 percent on baby hook shots from 10.25389 feet from the rim on the second thursday of each month if it's an away game on a back to back." he's terribly knowledgeable and terribly accurate. ..and just plain terrrrrrrible.

I like him better than the Breen/Jackson/Van Gundy clowns who all they do is ridicule the celtics and their bench and talk about how great the cavs and lakers are for 48 minutes

Not sure what you're talking about here. Jackson and Van Gundy were ALL OVER the Lakers during most of the Finals, saying that the Celtics were tougher and trying harder on defense. There were a few games where they literally spent the whole game ripping LA's defense. I think people who think those two (and even Breen) are biassed are imagining things. You know, broadcasters are allowed to say positive things about the Celtics opponent once in a while. I've heard Breen talk about this before, and he said that in both Boston and LA the fans accuse him of favoring the other team. He's the Knicks broadcaster, so he really has reason to hate both the Lakers and the Celtics, but I don't see why people think he favors either of them.

And Hubie is a good announcer in my opinion. Him and Tirico are a little boring together, but he sure does his homework on each player and knows a ton about the game.

I have to say I really do cringe everytime I see the Jackson/Van Gundy/Breen combo doing Celtics games (happy it didn't happen today).  Not really a fan of them at all, especially when they ramble on about things that aren't even relevant to the game.

Hubie Brown isn't too bad, definitely enjoy Marv Albert still when he does national games.

Hubie is one of the few guys I'd listen to, he has a true knowledge of the game.  No false show stuff no hype, no show which might make him boring but he really does know the game.  I really wish bill walton would tone it down, that man really knows basketball but he tries to do a show as well.

Hubie really knows his stuff. I have heard him speak at a coaching clinic and read some stuff about his game preparation as a coach. He analyzes and breaks down the game into a statistical analysis better than anyone. Some people may take that as boring, but from a coaching perspective, that is what an entire game plan is based on.

I love the numbers of the game, so I think Hubie is the best in the business.

Hubie is awful.  He says the same thing about everyone.

"You know, <insert name here> is one of the premier <insert role or skill here>ers in the league.  He really attracts the attention of the other team's coaching staff and players."

Wow, how incredibly insightful.
God bless and good night!

Ok, if you are a celtic blog member, you are all upset, because you know that michael gorman and thomas heinsohn are one of the top announcing duos we have in this league, OK?! now remember, these are two guys who have been doing games together since the original Big Three was playing, OK?! (laughing)

i disagree with the OP. i love hubie, one of the few national guys i enjoy. tirico is a train wreck, regardless of what sport he is doing, but hubie is great, love to hear him do games.

of course, nothing compares to mike and tommy.
"Maybe now you'll never slime a guy with a positron collider, huh?"

i love mike fratello. he's had some classic games including the bird concussion and comeback pacer game. he knows his stuff but he's also great at providing the punch when needed. he's my fave outside of mike and tommy.
