Will McDyess Opt Out Of Detroit?

Detroit forward Antonio McDyess is expected to opt out of his contract at the end of the season and become a free agent.

The Pistons will likely be a player for his services, but their struggles could have an affect on the veteran's decision.

"I hate to sell myself short of anything at this point in my career," McDyess said. "So I have to keep all my options open."

McDyess was coveted by a number of teams before re-joining the Pistons after receiving a buyout from the Nuggets stemming from the Allen Iverson-Chauncey Billups trade.

"I just have to see how everything is going to go in the summer with this team, and kind of go from there," McDyess said. "But like I said, it's flattering that there are some teams that still think I can help them win. I definitely feel I have some options."

I know this is for next season.  There is already a thread on whether or not we should re-sign Marbury, btw.

Should we be interested?  Would you rather have Sheed or McDyess for next season? Or could Mikki still be in the mix (only if we win a 'ship with him)?

Based on the McDyess interview I saw with Jughead, I think he regrets no signing with the Celtics.

I want Sheed... he is my third favorite basketball player behind Steve Nash and Rajon Rondo. I just love his intensity and can't stand playing against him, he's like KG + a deadly three point shot. Having him and KG on the same team would be ridiculous. If we couldn't get him however I would definitely go for McDyess.

If Marbury comes here and we win a championship it's 100% guaranteed he'll leave for more $ for next season. I don't expect him to stay with us.

I think I would prefer Sheed, as well.  McDyess is more likely to take less than the full MLE to sign, though, meaning we could potentially fill multiple holes.

I have a need for Sheed.

McDyess, Smith, Pachulia are next in line for the 4/5 position.

If we fail to get one of those four, then i'd be looking this pool over: Moore, Gooden, Wilcox, Nesterovic, Swift

Sheed and AI splitting the MLE to win a championship in beantown? It not only helps us but hurts the Pistons.

Ugh... I can't stand Sheed.

It drives me absolutely nuts that people still say "he has the talent to be the best ever when he wants to be".... after 14 seasons, will people ever open there eyes and realize it's not a matter of want, it's a matter of can't.

I'll pass on PF/C that takes almost half his shots from 3 and doesn't rebound.

Huh, are you serious? youre saying you like sheed more than KG, Pierce, and Allen...
Hmm, all sheed does is chuck 3's, complain and underachieve, hes been a blessing to play against because he simply doesnt bring it every night, or at all anymore..Rather have McDyess, a true professional.

I liked sheed when he was in portland alright, to be honest his 3 pt shot has destroyed his game

McDyess finally realizing he has options.  Uhm Antonio... U had an option earlier this year. Go to the C's and win a title or go to detroit and lose in the first round.

I would love to have Sheed. Although He has declined this year, He's a better low post scorer, outside shooter, and defender. Just imagine Him and KG on the floor at the same time. That would be scary for opposing Teams.

Sheed would be great. Imagine sheed coming off the bench while rondo allen and house are in the game. Rondo would get 10 assists per minute while the team average 30 points on three pointers.

In all seriousness Sheed would be great for this team, however Im not so sure him and Starbury could handle each others egos playing on the same second unit if Marb stuck around.

No there is a salary cap in basketball so we can't be the Yankees.

having wallace a celtic would be great.... if they could afford him. i dont see him take a huge pay cut to play for a championship team. he has won it all before.
