And beat Boston, on the Tirico and Van Pelt show. Haha. Thoughts?
The audio is on ESPN's daily dime - http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime

Didnt he guarantee he'd win the skills challenge? this guy should keep his mouth shut.

He guaranteed the East will win the all-star game too. He's no Sheed.

I love these guarantees!  They almost always fail. 8)

Exactly. this guarantee is perfect bulletin board material, not even the lakers would be dumb enough to guarantee a series victory against the celtics....

Mo did not come out of nowhere and say "I guarantee a championship" - he responded to a question.

Stephen A. - "Now Mo, you know who you're talking to so I'm gonna give the LeBron treatment. You going to the NBA Finals?

Mo Williams - "Oh that's for sure."

Stephen A. - "Is that a guarantee? You going to the NBA Finals, gonna beat Boston and go to the Finals?"

Mo Williams - "That's, for sure. That's, that's a guarantee - we plan on winning, so to answer your question, yeah."

Closing - "You got Memphis tonight? Oh, that's a win".

Mo Williams - laughing, "haha yeah, I can guarantee that one."

There's nothing wrong with this comment. He appeased Stephen A. The guy believes in his team - good for him. What matters is what is done on the court, not what someone says on a radio show - especially to Stephen A.

Well, he just gave Boston bulletin board material.  Not always the best idea.

It's sad if the Celtics need bulletin board material to get motivated.

I read this story earlier and noticed that he stopped just short of a REAL guarantee.  He said "we plan on winning".  This shows both cockiness and fear at the same time.  It's as if he's saying "I guarantee it...right LeBron?"

FAIL! The same way he failed in the skills challenge. Dumb me I used to like this guy. Even Lebron isn't dumb enough to make such foolish statement. By the way Mo you are NOT an all-star.

You're right.  What matters is what is done on the court.  Which is why guarantees like that are stupid.  And while it's not as if the Celtics need any more motivation to beat the Cavs in the playoffs, bulletin board material doesn't help.  I'm sure once Mike Brown heard that, he was shaking his head.

Also, consider that this was not a Rasheed Wallace type "guaransheed".  Stephen A. put the bait out, and Mo Williams appeased him by taking it.

Let me know when a player guarantees something unprovoked - then you have something real to write about. People are making much ado over a very little thing.

Where the heck did you pull that crazy reasoning out of?  He said: "That's for sure. That's, that's a guarantee - we plan on winning, so to answer your question, yeah."

If anything his quick stutter was probably "hmmm, should I say this?" How does that show fear or imply he needs LeBron to agree?

What it comes down to is that a guarantee is meaningless, especially when it's not coming from your best player.  Mo can guarantee until he's blue in the face, but if LeBron doesn't perform, they're not winning.
