So.....how's that whole Scalsucks and Doc can't coach thing working out right about now?
Just the way I wanted it to...! Do you think I changed my mind. You couldn't keep from making it personal could you....it is difficult growing up, maybe in your next 43 years you might (good to start by moving out of your mom's house!)_Scal has developed into an average player, where he should be at is as good as Varejo...but he isn't. If he could play like that, I would be happy. He is overpaid for his contributions. And Doc is still what I think he is, well only to me. I wanted to start a dialog on how everyone sees it just to see. Lebron "rested the whole 4th quarter yesterday while they were up, as did most of their starters, but then again Doc was outcoached last year by both Cleveland and Atlanta, two teams with less talent than the C's....good thing the big 3 dug deep to get us out of there, mostly PP...! Those two teams figured out that when you shut down Ray, the scoring stops....!
My, my, aren't we touchy? I meant that for everyone that has that particular point of view and not just you. I think that you took what amounts to a joke so personally and decided to respond in such an immature insulting manner says more about how much you might need to grow up than it does about how much I need to grow up.
And just so that we are clear, my mother threw my out of my childhood home at the ripe old age of 18. Yet I managed to graduate from a very esteemed college, get married to a beautiful woman, raise three highly intelligent kids, two of whom are in top 100 universities nationwide, buy my own house, sell it, buy another and leverage that into an extremely successful small business. I have no need for my mother's house. As far as I am concerned you can both say hello to each other when you meet up in the heat in the afterlife.
As for your astute observations, Doc has one NBA championship coaching ring. How many other guys currently getting paid to be head coaches on any level of basketball can currently say that? Certainly you can't. And if you were paying attention last spring then you would have seen that Doc coached tremendously well in the last two series of the playoffs and was unbelievable in taking a group of players that had next to no experience playing together and molding them into quite possibly one of the 10 best teams of all-time. And, by the way, they haven't missed a beat this year.
He's an excellent manager of time, handles the press better than most, is a great motivator and has a tremendous pulse on the psyche of his team. His quoting of stats and knowledge of how to apply them to game realities is tremendous and he has the respect and attention and general fondness of all his players and has had a hand in developing many quality NBA players with his "prove to me you have earned your playing time" attitude.
More astute observations on your part:
- Scal has played 8 years not 7.
- Odom, Bonner, and Varejao are exactly the type of players that Scal plays well against. Bigger guys that play the outside game and hate the inside on offense are guys that Scal gives fits to. Turkoglu, Rashard Lewis, Bargnani, Love and Brad Miller are some others. Scal plays these type players tremendously and usually does a great job at shutting them down.
- The best game Scal has had all year was against the Phoenix Suns, a team that was 8 games over .500 at the time.
- KG is averaging 32 MPG, Allen 36 MPG and Pierce 37 MPG. Your claims of Doc overplaying the Big Three are a farce. Check the minutes played of other great 30 year old players on championship teams in the recent past, say 15 -20 years or so. Most were averaging more minutes, in some cases much more minutes.
Shaq in the Laker years when he was about Pierce's age was averaging 37-38 MPG
Duncan in 2008 when he was KG's age played 34 MPG, 2 more than KG.
Pippen and Jordan during thier last threepeat were constantly around 38-39 MPG and they were blowing out teams left and right.
Hakeem and Drexler who were both in the 32-33 age range in Houston were playing about 39 MPG.
Doc plays his main guys less minutes per game than Phil Jackson did and does with his stars. He played his big man less time that Greg Popovich did his big man during their last championship run. He played his older players less time than Rudy Tomjonovich did his players. The whole Doc plays his stars too much in blowouts is as ridiculous an argument against Doc as one can find. By all accounts, coaches most Doc detractors consider worlds better than Doc played and play their stars as much or, in most cases, more minutes per game than Doc does.
- Have they lost to a couple of good teams? Sure, so what? When they lose a playoff series I'll start worrying. They lost three games to Washington last year and lost a game each to Toronto and Charlotte while needing miracle last second shots to avoid losing two games to each of those teams. In the end, what the hell did it mean come playoff time? Exactly nothing. If LA and Cleveland can beat us in the playoffs then hats off to them but them beating us in a 7 game series and during the regular season are two completely different things that mean squat in the long run.
