Maybe the first time Lebron's spoken into a microphone without having previously rehearsed a script with worldwide wes.

He was definitely under the influence of something when he stated that - just listen to his pacing and how he's swaying back and forth, bumping his chest....hahaha
God bless and good night!

There was another statement that wasn't part of the interview where he said he will try to get other superstars to participate and make it like it used to be.

My thoughts while all this was happening were: "Gosh, LeBron can't stand not being the center of attention for more than two seconds!"

He saw Dwight pulling of a great show with his superman2 dunk and the rest of what was going on, and couldn't resist to put his name on the dunk contest for next year. Like if he could just put his name in there. The league decides who goes to the contest, but we also know that if he says so, it's probably done ???

I want the Celtics to beat the LeBrons so badly in the playoffs just to throw him down to earth a little bit. Have people seen how he acts (cocky) whenever his team is winning? Can't stand it. Did anyone catch that game were he was singing and acting along the timeout music at the end of the fourth quarter  when all the players were on the court ready for the refs to blow the whistle and inbound the ball? The game was in the books with little time left, but not by much. That would make me seriously angry as an opposing player. He also just loves that everyone has to wait for him to do his powder thing (which we all know is not original from him) to start the game. I could go on and on...

Dwight's performance was awful. I agree with your comments on LeBron's cockiness but that was a terrible dunk contest and if no one is going to put on a show and a guy says "i could do way better" and we know he can, what's the big deal?  He said he wants to get rid of the gimmicks and get a star studded lineup.

While I understand you issues at that same time here is a guy who can actually put on a great show.  I'm thrilled with the prospect of LeBron, Wade, and some of the other real big stars in the contest.  I'm glad someone in the NBA wants to kill this stupid gimmicky thing the dunk contest has become and make it what it should be: thrilling, legitimate, and an actual competition.

That's just Lebron needing to be the center of attention, I bet you he never does it.

You have a good point. This last contest was not very good, but I was sill entretained. The whole weekend is for entretainig am I right? Phil jackson thinks otherwise with his zone though...
I just didn't think it was necessary to say all that during the present contest. TNT also gets part of the fault for going (in other words): "wait wait wait, let's see what LeBron has to say about this", and pause the whole thing.

In the end, we all know he loves been the center of attention.

wow, the unnecessary hate for lbj on the blog continues!

i, for one, will be excited to see what he can do.  personally, i think he is a better game dunker, than a contest dunker....but you never know.  his mcdonald's hs dunk contest wasnt anything special, but he is a lot older and explosive now.

You can argue that it was TNT that made him the center of attention at that moment, but Lebron never fails to jump at the spotlight. He just has a very entitled way of speaking that rubs me the wrong way, it's probably because he has never had to work a job, and doesn't have a great deal of education. Rather than taking a compliment and speaking as a normal human, Lebron always agrees with his hype, and builds off of it.

As far as the contest is concerned, I don't see him doing well at all, but I see him winning no matter what, he will start the contest with four 50's.

i think if he wasnt as good as he is, it wouldnt bother you as much.  but it sounds like a personality quirk you have with him.

to me, he does and says the right things overall.  i also think he is an honest person, regardless of how people will perceive his honesty, which i respect alot.  id rather hear a person's honest opinion/thoughts, then them saying something they think people want to hear.

Everyone says that the dunk contest isn`t what it used to be when we get to watch DrJ or Jordan VS Nique but at the same time when a present star like LeBron says that he intends to participate he is a selfish @#$!@ that likes to draw attention
