Did anyone else catch this classy quote from Phil Jackson in the Herald today?

Quote
Though the Lakers spent an extra three days in Boston before flying to Cleveland for yesterday’s game, coach Phil Jackson apparently still considers the city a distasteful place to play a basketball game.

Asked about Rivers’ fine before the game against Cleveland, Jackson said, “Is that all?”

“It should have been more,” he said. “That’s Boston. That’s always been Boston. It just goes along with the product.”

As if we needed another reason to hate Jackson and the Lakers.

Is that the same man that was complaining about the refs before a game even started. when he was talking about Lebron on his home court "He gets away with murder" we all know that he does but the lakers get away with murder (and rape) everywhere they go

TP for making me hate them even more

We should do a "Hate on PJ" thread!

Like: "Hey, Phil, look at my sig. All the
'Oms' in the world can't change that. And
your team sucks monkey butt, too. In a sec
or two we'll have Leon going POW on you..."

Haha, its very clear that we're always on their mind, even if they did sweep us in the regular season, theyre still taking shots at us..
Phil Jackson has coached 9 championship teams, coached some of the best players of all time and makes millions of millions of dollars and he was fist pumping after ray allen misses the final shot...I dont think Ive ever seen him do that or get that excited about a win..it just goes to show how much it means to even him and how much what we did to them in the finals hurt and they will never get over it
When you got it going, you got it going. I just keep my focus down the stretch. That's when I want the ball. I'm just not afraid to fail."-PaulPierce

haha thats pretty funny,,,,anyone else catch after the first quarter monday when Jackson said Kobe had to take 10 shots because Lamar was being shy 6 feet away from the hoop.

i thought it was a tough dig on his own player,,but apparantly lamar has responded and played an amazing game and a half since
Looking for a Sig designer....obviously i will be greatful with tps.

Looking for a Wire - Rondo theme....PM with ideas and I'll tp

It is hypocritical for him to say that for many reasons.  Of course, you can never tell the tone of quotes in writing... maybe he was saying it tongue in cheek, but it is pretty clear that he pays extra attention to the Celtics.  I just hope that the coaches and players read this quote, just in case they need another reason to get fired up against the lakers if they face them in the finals.  I just can't stand that man and the whole prima donna organization.  The thought of jackson being mentioned in the same breath as Red makes me sick.

That's an interesting article, liam.  Clearly he is a master of mind games, but shouldn't his comments motivate the opposing players and teams even more rather than psyche them out?  Or does it all just serve as one big distraction?  Either way, I say just coach the game, Phil, if you are really as good of a coach as people claim you to be.  Shut your mouth and coach the team.  You don't see Doc making negative comments like that against opposing players and coaches.  Clearly he does a good job at getting under people's skin (including mine), but does that really make him a better coach?

His mind games didn't work when it really counted.  In the Finals.

Phil was exposed in the last two finals series he coached. He was out coached by Larry Brown and Doc Rivers. He was out coached badly with arguably better teams.

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
Phil Jackson is a mediocre coach at best, Bulls with Michael and Pippen, Lakers with Shaq and Kobe, if you can't win titles with those teams you should never get near a basketball court. As for his mind games, he has never been clever, and he has never played a mind game. I have never considered his pathetic comments, that basically boil down to him insulting people/teams/cities in an incredibly immature way to be insightful, intelligent or relevant at all.

Phil is one of those frustrating dumb people, that try to outsmart you, when the whole time you know their intentions. There are few things more annoying than a blowhard, and that's what Phil is. Being insulting and taking cheap shots is just bad form, not a mind game.

TP for the find.
Jackson showing again that he has no class.  He and Kobe are the perfect pair.
Celtics fan for life.
