did everybody forget how well we were playing with pruitt and house in the backcourt? Tony Allen really doesnt do anything for us.

I didn't. I like Pruitt a lot. He doesn't have big numbers but he can shoot and makes few mistakes. Pruitt plays good defense and can defend two positions as well or better than Allen. Tony's an accident waiting to happen.

  • It's hammer time
It just seems like the games that we had pruitt and house come off the bench together and play together were games that we had a lot of offense and won by greater margins.  Ever since Tony Allen came back from his injury, pruitt has had little playing time and the margins of victory have  been much smaller or the 2 losses we just had.

Food for thought, but if you check out the player pairs for Eddie on 82games you'll see that the team does significantly better when Eddie and Tony are playing that when Eddie and Gabe are playing.

Pruitt brings more of a pg mentality to the game when on the flr w/House than TA,pass first and look to set up others first(House).TA is looking for his first and pass second.

With the exception of crunch time, our offense flows pretty well.  However, in the last four minutes of close games, everybody becomes extremely tentative and there is no movement regardless of who is on the floor.  I wonder if it is Doc's decision to let Paul bring the ball up the court with the game on the line (or at the end of quarters).  I don't know if there are any stats out there on it, but it seems like good things don't happen that often with Paul at the point holding the ball as time runs out.  The spin dribble into traffic is pretty hard for me to watch.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
What I don't like about our offense is that Pierce doesn't get enough easy baskets. A big part of that is that he doesn't cut, and move towards the basket enough. You rarely see Pierce get easy buckets around the basket, off of a pass this year. He did a lot more last year than this year. Last year he would be the one make the entry pass to KG, and make the hard cut, and that lead to him shooting something like 60% the first few weeks of the season, if I remember correctly. This year he's always working from the top of the key down. It's not that he's taking bad shots, but I rarely see him being the beneficiary of a good pass, other than kick outs. Ray, Rondo, Perk, and even KG all  have moved better than him without the ball.

what i meant is that kg is not a back to the basket post up player...

the one play i like is when they run the staggered picks where ray can catch and shoot the ball...

otherwise it is too many iso's for pp and ray...

i don't see enough off the ball movement...

too much standing around...

they are waiting for pp to drive the lane and then hope he can finish or kick it out...

the other thing that really gets me is that on the iso's they wait till pp or ray is double teamed and then go set the pick...

as soon as you pass the ball you go set the pick right away...

instead of giving them time to trap us on the wings...

for example...when kg faces up to the basket...

why not set a back pick for pp, ray or even rondo and then have somebody cut down the lane...

heck...i'm even for them bringing back red's old zipper play...
