I actually didn't get a chance to see the game, about which I am livid.

Was the officiating truly, truly awful? Like in an overtly obvious way? Like Kings-Lakers 2002 WCF style?
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

I have a novel idea for Stern to consider.

How about you ask your officials to officiate every NBA player, regardless of stature or significance of the game at hand, according to the rulebook, exactly the same way?

The great players would become greater.  The game would be more credible and way more fun to watch.

I love the Lakers and don't really care for Celtics( I respect them). Derick Fisher is a cheater. He ripped off the Celtics and their Fans. KG should have been on the floor until he committed a real foul. I don't want the NBA to turn into European soccer, with a bunch of actors and cry babies. Lakers would have won with KG on the floor, but we will never know. I still hate the Celtics from the Jerry West Days.

Nobody knows for sure who would have won with KG on the floor (I think celts would have), but TP for acknowledging what you have as a lakers fan, that the call was crap.

They talk about these pre-game meetings the refs have to talk about the history between the two teams and all of this ridiculous nonsense.  To me that is completely inappropriate because it will skew how you call the game.  The refs should show up and have zero contact with each other until the ball goes in the air.

It's a legit call "in the NBA" on players named Scalabrine, not Garnett.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

I wish coaches were allowed to challenge certain calls/no-calls especially crucial plays down the stretch. If the refs would have watched video playback of the KG 6th foul and the Fisher/Ray no-call, C's would have one this game.

That's a very good idea actually. Like they do on Tenis matches in the ATP Tour. You only get certain (limited) amount of challenges per game. Every time you get it right, you keep the number of challenges you had left before you asked for that last challenge. Only thing though is that this can only exist after a call, and not after a no-call. After a no-call you would stop the game in your favor creating a non fair play incentive. Example: a player of your team got the ball stolen away from him, and the other team started running but you call a challenge and stop the fast break. You obviously can't create a challenge for no-calls, but for calls you certainly can, because the game has already been stopped.

Bad referereeing used to be my biggest pet peeves with the NBA.  I have since concluded that there is very little that can be done about it, except to train more refs, pay them more to attract better quality refs. The game moves so fast, and there are so many non-calls, until a ref suddenly decides to enforce something. Remember 2 seasons ago when they decided to call anything that looked close to a carry, or slap on a T on a player if he so much as raised his eye brow following a call? How long did that last.  Instant replay does not work in the NBA except in very limited circumstances (such as, 3 point line, or 24 second violation) because it would kill the momentum of the game, which is one of its biggest assets. Some refs are just better than others.  Train more good refs. It will never be perfect, but it can get better.

I agree,it will never be perfect but at this time in the NBA it is at its worst.I can't remember last when i have seen so many games with terrible officiating from start to finish of games until this season. It makes you almost want to throw the towel in as a fan.tp
