i like doc, leon and bbd...

but what is so obvious is that leon was playing better last night...

how hard is that to figure out...

My problem isn't that Baby was on the floor.  It's that our OT offense consisted of him taking five jumpers.  Mind you this is against the Lakers defense, not exactly a juggernaut.  


Part of it was KG not being in there, but we still could've had a two man game with Ray and Paul or have Rondo penetrate to make Kobe play him.  When he had the ball in his hand and was doing his our offensive flow was much better when KG wasn't in there anymore.

2.) why does this "dictate the matchup" to the lakers in anyway, they can still do exactly what they did on the floor, and it in fact nets them a better advantage on O do to eddie gaurding either kobe or there 3 if we switch to get paul/ray on him.

Im constanly amazed at how many people discount defense despite us being a defensive team. People still think scoring > team defense.

It's all about the spacing - if Powe, Perkins or Rondo were able to hit jumpers consistently, things could be different.... we really struggle in this kind of situations, Doc simply doesn't have enough quality on the bench to make up for the flaws of the starters.

I'm far from a Doc apologist, and in fact I probably would have put House in for Rondo when it became obvious the Lakers were just going to pack it in, but Davis was in the game because he's a better shooter than Powe and we needed someone who could open it up.
The problem was BB just couldn't get it done.

Fair enough, but i think, as i said, your completly discounting how bad of a matchup that is for eddie. following the logic, eddie has to either gaurd Kobe (not happining) has to switch perfectly everytime with rondo to have rondo gaurd kobe (also not happening) or, if we go with what we did and have paul do it, he has to gaurd the 3 spot (again, a huge matchup problem.)

KG fouling out screwed us, it means the lakers dictate the matchup with thier length.

We weren't making any stops in the OT anyway PP was running on fumes and so was RA, it was a matter of who was going to outscore who. If Doc had put Powe and Eddie back in (fresh legs) we would have had a much better chance even with Kg out. Powe did an excellent job with that whiny womanly spaniard on D and Fisher wasn't having an easy time with Eddie on him, and both were on fire for the night. Doc was a moron for the line up he used, he shot himself in the foot with it and each time they called time out I prayed that he would switch the line up for energy and he didn't. Doc should shut up about the poor calls since he lost it himself.

1. If you watched, PP was playing great defense on Kobe, both those 3's and two other shots were as well defended as you could get. Kobe just made great shots, give the devil his due.

2. following off that, your argument is so hindsight its not even funny. here's your logic:

A: We couldn't stop kobe, no matter how well we gaurded him

B: Thus, Doc should have known he would make those shots over great defense

C: therefore, docs a bad coach for trying to play defense.

Crowns, that was not my logic at all or the point I was trying to prove, I have no clue where you got that from. IMO Kobe was held to a minimal status with Pierce on him and it could have been worse if Pierce was not there. Idk where your going with B) either, Kobe can hit almost anything and Doc knows that and so did PP, and so do I. Doc shouldn't have been relying on defense alone in OT since 4/5 of the players he was using were running on fumes, and we weren't getting much, or ANY stops, I watched the game. That unit had absolutely NO offense except Pierce and Allen. Doc should have thrown in Powe and House to finish the game. Gasol and Fisher were to tired to hope to stop them, they would have run them into the ground.

The last couple possessions that Kobe hit three's in,PP should have forced him to put the ball on the flr and possibly drive.After Kobe hit the 1st three,i felt PP should have changed his D,but i give him credit for most of the game in what he did on D.

Powe with 10 points and 8 rebounds disappears from the Garden

House with 16 points and 4/6 from 3 point land disappears from the Garden

Davis with 2 points on 1/8 shooting and 3 rebounds is jacking up shots

i watched the game, and i disagree. Leon hasn't played well lately and has no offense. While Powe's stock has dropped, Baby's has doubled, he has proved that he can be a realy player for this team both on the offensive and defensive level.

Doc is not a good coach? whatever you say man.
