I just deleted a post I was going to do because frankly, I am superstitious.  I know superstitions are foolish and make no logical sense whatsoever, but lets face it they are incredibly prevalent, especially in the world of sports.

I for one completely believe in the jinx rule and it sometimes seriously gets in the way of enjoying an "important" game.

So the superstitions of the stars are well documented (From KG - Wade Boggs).  Do you have any and if so what and why?
Call me a sap, but I love my kids more than anything!

I used to wear mismatching high sox at every fencing meet. I also ate a grilled chicken cesar salad everynight before I fenced.

We moved into our house 5 years ago.  We have two bathrooms.  One upstairs.  One downstairs.  I have yet to do #2 upstairs and now that all this time has passed I am somewhat stubborn about not using the upstairs toilet for this purpose (peeing, I have no problem with).

I have no idea why this started, but I find the longer I go without doing something the more superstitious I become about actually doing it.

For this reason I have never smoked a cigarette - despite having smoked other things and at times feeling the urge to try a cigarette.  I figured by the time I reached 18 and hadn't smoked one it would be silly to "break the streak".  Whatever the reason, this one worked out for me for not smoking.

For much the same reason I haven't had a steak & cheese or a Whopper in about 15 years.  And I love them both.

I generally put my right shoe on first, and feel a little funny putting the left one first if I happen to pick it up by mistake.

Yup

What happens if you really have to go and the downstairs one is occupied or has recently been stunk up?

This actually happened for the first time recently with my wife in the downstairs bathroom.  I basically had to say something along the lines "I know the upstairs is vacant, and I know that this is being totally ridiculous, but you could you please hurry up so I can use the bathroom."

This is why I rack up my "good boy" points.  So I can use them up on being an idiot every now and then.  I don't actually ever get in any real trouble, so I have to be annoying somehow...

My house has 5 bathrooms (a weird anomaly) and I've been known to use all five in one day.  (Didn't mean to hijack my own thread)

I wore the same Paul Pierce cut off under my high school jersey for four years.  Needless to say it doesn't smell too good right now.  It's good some rips in it, some blood stains.  It is my keepsake from the good ole playing days.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

  • You know my methods, Watson.
when i'm watching a ballgame i'll sit in the same spot...but if the team starts losing i'll move.

if we're winning i won't take a leak...i figure i have lucky pee in me...

i was really bad about this when i was younger, but have lightened up a lot now...i figure there are thousands of people out there probably doing some of the same stupid things, but it had no bearing on whether larry would make that shot or not...

Whenever I do or see something that makes me stress or uncomfortable, I tap on the top of my head with my hand seven times, gently. I even do it randomly sometime. I don't know if that's a superstition. But it's weird.

When I put on a jacket or hoodie. My left arm always has to go in first. Even thought going in first with the right arm is easier.

not that i can think of. i believe there is a twisted god that punishes (karma). some people would call that god fearing maybe. so i guess i try to be extra nice to avoid disaster. so i think that is just craziness and not superstition.

Whenever I shave, I shave the bridge of my nose even though it is thankfully quite free of hair.  If I forget, I go back and do it ASAP.

Don't quite know if I'd label it a superstition - really, it's more just ritual at this point - but I call The Guru (my dad) after ever Celtics game.  Again, not really superstition, but the day just doesn't feel right if I don't.
