Hotels near the new Garden

Making my annual trip to Boston for a game in March... can anyone suggest a hotel for me near the arena?  Not looking for anything fancy, just reasonable and somewhat within walking distance.

I like to have my own wheels, but to each his own.  I have stayed in both Wakfield and in the Harvard area when I come up. Just know that anywhere within walking distance is going to cost you 25% or so more.

There's a new Holiday Inn Express on Friend Street that just opened recently. Friend Street is perpendicular to Causeway Street. The hotel is literally located across the street from the Garden.

the omni parker is about a 10 minute walk. pretty central location and some weekends very reasonable

My wife and I walked right by the Omni and it looked pretty swank.  I think the aforementioned Holiday Inn Express was still under construction when we were there back in November.

Thanks guys... We're going in early March... usually drive there and back (2 hrs and change), but we're thinking about maybe staying the night this year.  I'll have to check all these places out..

I'm coming from the binghamton, ny area... I have family in albany that I've stayed with the past few years, but its tough to make that 2 hour drive after the game.

You could probably save a good chunk of $$ staying at a hotel about 15-20 outside the city and driving in or taking public transportation

Do what I do and drink enough at the game where you dont mind passing out on a Bench. Im from Albany and I usually just drive up and back.

You could stay at the Hilton in Dedham.  Theres a commuter rail station next to it that could take you to South Station.
