Actually, I think that would be a pretty
good motivational factor. Seriously.
That and then "Let's go see Obama!"  :)

Well, we don't have to win; we just have to cheer for the Lakers to not win.

Become Legendary.

I think we are capable of winning 2 more with this team, I really do. We will need a few lucky breaks, but so did Michael Jordan.

That's not going to be very hard.

But the C's should be able to determine the Lakers future, this team is good enough to get  few rings.

I don't believe he said he was retiring in 2010.  What I heard him say was that his contract ended then and then he'd see what he wanted to do then.  Phil is not retiring.  He's just a drama queen wanting attention.

drama queen, only saying it to motivate his players to win him a title now and for people to get on their hands and knees and beg him to stay, possibly for more money

He should retire now and get his pathetic dramatic exit from the league over with. Better yet, lets keep crushing his team in the finals until he leaves out of frustration. Red would smile at that one.

He wont retire.  If he does, it wont be for good.  He wants that record, if he retires in 2010 he'll wait for a team thats right on the verge of winning a title and take a coaching job with them.

Phils a great coach, but I still dont think hes in Reds league.  Green colored sunglasses or not, Red built a team, scouted and aquired the perfect players to fill positions of need.  He knew how to get a team to play together, like a family.  Not to mention he could have won many more titles had he kept coaching.

Phil in my opinion is a great coach but he in my opinion just picked and chose his spots.  Hes does a great great job at getting big name players to play together, he can take that championship caliber team that just cant quite get over the hump and get them...and all this stuff by all means makes him one of the greatest coaches of all time, but I just think Red did so much more.

I agree.  Red was a coach and a pioneer.  He created the concept of the sixth man, created fast break basketball and actually created plays for his center to score during a time when players at that position were there strictly to rebound.  These are components of the game so common today that we take for granted that it took someone to create them.

I don't care how many more championships Phil has once he retires.  Red's contribution to the game of basketball is second to none and I will always consider him the greatest coach in the game of basketball.
