I love Perk, but I'd take Bynum in a heartbeat.  I really think he's a stud, and he's just starting to get going again after missing half of last year.

can't be a stud unless you play defense, something he still kinda sucks at.

But he is a force on offense, no doubt.

So Lebron wasn't a stud last year?

He's getting it going again? he just had two great games against the two worst teams in the league against perhaps the absolutely pathetically worse center personnel any teams in the league possess.

When Bynum starts having great games against good competition, I'll grant you that he's starting to return to last years form. But I'm not going to give him credit for great games against the likes of DeAndre Jordan, Andre Blatche, and Oleksiy Pechorov.

The three previous games versus good competition Bynum could only manage 4 RPG, and 1.3 BLKS and 15 PPG. While he has an offensive game he did allow Varejao, Howard and Bonner to average 15 PPG, 13 RPG, 2 BPG, and 48% FG% and that's not so great. Especially considering that in the San Antonio game he was matched up half the time against Tim Duncan and I didn't figure Duncan's stats into the above stats otherwise they would have made him look much worse.

come on man, i don't like king jame's act, but you really think he isn't a good defender?

He's not like, DPOY level or anything, but he's [dang] good.

Is Sasha really a bad defensive player? Sure Ray has played well for 1.5 seasons, but he's not really known as a D stud. I actually thought Sasha was more of a D guy.

Also I love the homerism of putting Gasol behind Perk. I love Perk as a player, over achiever, tough guy, etc. And I'll even concede his defense is superior to Gasol's, but Gasol's PER is 8 points higher and that's not easy to overlook.

Which actually gets me thinking - given Odom is pretty much a PF only, wouldn't it make more sense to have Bynum come off the bench and dominate the other teams bench? That would be McHale-esque usage. Meanwhile the LAL would have their best team on the floor.

Also I think the Walton signing is really being exposed as a bad idea. With the surplus of wings they have in Ariza, Sasha, and the space cadet, Walton is an extra piece even when healthy.

Until this year I don't think he focused much on d.  This year he may very well win DPOY.

Perk knows how to get a ring, but Bynum is a puppy. The Lakers aren't going to win any rings with Kobe, none, zero.

I think he's been a top defensive player for about 3 years now. He may get DPOY this year, but to say him and bynum are at all alike in regardes to defense before this year...i don't see it.

And that's the end of the game.

I'll take Perkins, thank you. Let's remember that Bynum normally has huge games against teams that are playing five guards, as he did when he put up 42 and 15 against the clips without Kaman and without Camby....

Bynum gets slapped one time and you can easily see he's wearing thongs not boxers.

He's an arrogant, inflated egomaniac as far as I can tell. Got no heart.

Perk's the type you want to be in the trenches with in a war, you know he'll cover your back. Bynum would tell the enemy which foxhole you were in if it meant it saved his life.

I'd rather lose with Perk than play with Bynum.

But that being said, I still think you win more with Perk anyway.

Very rare to find a true low post banger who loves to defend, rebound and do all the dirty work. Those guys help you win championships, big time.

It is not that I am putting Gasol behind Perk but that I rather put Perk next to KG then Gasol.  That I rather have Ray Allen as the third star then Gasol.

Gasol is the better player, but Perk provides what the Celtics need next to KG.

Bynum is just a glorified Perk because he's in LA. I'd take big Perk.
True Celtic = Leon Powe
