I'm curious why nobody noticed that....??

Perk got a shoulder injury in the Xmas game against the Lakers and we had to call timeout.... He continued to play but I could already feel like he wasn't 100% since then... We ended up losing that game but also 6 of the next 8 games with Perkins contributing little to nothing because of that shoulder IMO...

The celts has been "lucky" Perk reinjured that shoulder so he could actually get the rest he needed since the first injury and we got to put somebody who could play with no refrain..

Perk's injury is for me the number 1 reason of that losing stretch...

I do not understand why nobody has been talking about it...?

I remember it being discussed, perhaps on the front page under a game recap or in passing in another thread, don't remember where, but I do remember the topic.  I do agree with you, but I'm not sure why it hasn't been discussed more.

Perk is the anchor of our defense and he was missed. It did show and Perk is one of those guys whose numbers don't tell the whole story about his contributions to our team. I said it before that if you watch and listen to the games the opposition may miss 3 or 4 shots in a row and it is often due to Perks' D and then the next possession KG blocks a shot and all the announcers say how great of a defensive player KG is. Now, I am not disputing that one bit but hey, lets also realize how great Perk is too. Guys that sacrifice for the team are very valuable on any team.

That being said, I also think that both KG and Paul were also hurting a lot during the losing streak. By the way, we win tonight!

Honestly, I chalked up that blip in the radar to lack of rest and energy.  The early scheduling cruch caught up to them.

Also, I think that in that stretch, the amount of intensity being shown by the opposing teams also hurt us.  It was impossible for this team to "get up" almost every night and take everyone's best.  They were just a tired, banged up, and veteran laden bunch.

Absolutely agree with this.  Perk looked ok to me while we were on the losing streak, and we just won several games without him.  The team just had no pep for a few weeks.

That's actually my point Moiso. Perk looked ok but couldn't bring the fierce defensive presence because of that shoulder! By actually taking him out of the starting line up and game planning the defense with 5 ready to bang up players changed the way we played and is one of the reason we got back to our winning ways...
They were tired too and that's true! but they were tired as well during the 19 winning streak and they will be tired again before the playoff starts but like I said having perk hurt in the line up is the major reason for the losing streak to me...
I understand it might not be the main reason for some people but I was just curious as to why it hasn't at least been mentioned (especially by Celt fans who follow the team on a regular basis...)
I remember in the finals against the Lakers without Perk we looked shaky on D...

I thought Rondo played very poorly during that three week stretch after Christmas. The offense stagnated, committed a lot of turnovers and cost us points. We were not physical like we have been the last week. Against the Magic tonight, it started to look a lot like last year. Stan VG said in his 3rd qtr interview with TNT that the Celtics were not letting his team move the ball on offense.

The Celtics sent a message tonight.

Again, solid interior defense translate to better perimeter defense and good defense overall translate to fast break opportunities/points where Rajon's offense is the most efficient...
I personally think that those are correlated and it all starts with solid interior defense which was lacking per Perk's injury over the losing streak...
