to me, o'neal and bosh are both 4's. but then again in the nba today, the 4 is turning into the 5.

I just love the idea of a Mark Blount and J.O. frontline with Beasley at the three. Think of it, you have Joel Anthony coming off the bench. What would they do with Udonis Haslem? No wonder Shaq wanted out of town. Would not be a bit surprised if Dwayne Wade was gone at the end of his contract at this rate. ;D

I think Wade will go elsewhere in 2010. He should come to Boston.

why can't we sign and trade PJ brown and send his contract and one young player(Giddens) for either Marion or O'Neal. Marcus Banks and O'Neal  would solve our two biggest bench holes. Just a thought, maybe not such a good one, but it's late....

because the other team would never do it.

Really?   I was just looking at the checker above that says both had one year left.  Bad info coming from the trade machine?

Yes. O'Neal has a player option for the next season in the value of $23 million. He'll exercise it.

The CBA doesn't allow it.

How come? If this deal goes down, it'll impact lots of things in the future of those teams and in the FA market.

Maybe they just want the trade chip.  With Marion going to expire and nothing available that they want, they are trading Marion to get a chip for next year.

Plus, with Boozers injury, maybe that has changed their off season plans.

Miami never had the cap space to sign Boozer to begin with. They've been exploiting options to dump some of their salaries, but if they didn't find out nothing decent enough, O'Neal is not a bad stop-gap till 2010.

This will open some decent options for Toronto next off-season. They could use a guy like Marvin Williams, for example. All this assuming Bargnani can keep his recent level of play. Although having Kapono and Bank's unmovable contracts simultaneously is kind of hard to swallow. Colangelo should be asking something more.

This trade makes both teams more even, I think.

Two reasons:

1) We don't have "Bird Rights" for PJ; and

2) Even if we did have Bird rights, something called "Base Year Compensation" makes it almost impossible to trade players who received more than a 25% raise (I think...  it could be 20%).

Looks like this trade just might happen.

This could make the Heat a horse in the East playoff race if J.O. can stay on the court.

Shawn Marion doesnt resign with the Raptors IMO.

Wonder if Marcus Banks will see the court in Toronto? What a waste of talent.

Rats, I was hoping Miami would buy out Marion and Boston would pick him up on the cheap cheap.

JO has health problems but his real drawback is that he comes from the halfcourt era and I see this becoming a run run run league like it was back in the 70's.
