Why isn't Powe working on a jumpshot?  He is turning into a black hole because of it, imo.  As an example, last night with the clock winding down, instead of taking the short 5 foot jumpshot or passing it back out to House at the top of the key, he decides to make a move toward the basket with not enough time on the shot clock to do so, and the shot clock runs out.  He's just too short to try to back bigger players down all the time... they just swat his junk back into his face.  He needs that short jumper.

I don't think he needs a 15 footer like BBD is working on, but just a short jumper like Perk's.

If Perk can shoot that jumper, you would think Powe, who is a better offensive player, can do the same thing.  I'd love to see Powe work on it, he'd be a much better offensive player.

Powe really annoys me with his lack of passing. He wastes so many good opportunities in our perimeter game with what would've been simple easy kickouts.

Just one of few reasons I think BBD is a better all around player.  Powe is better offensively though, except when he refuses to pass when he has no shot. :-\

I remember last season Tommy talking about Powe shooting a jump shot in practice.  Why isn't he doing it in games?

I think Powe has regressed more than any other player on the team unfortunately....I think we all expected more from him so far this year... but it doesn't look like he improved his game at all

He's better suited to be a garbage man type of player.

I heard Tommy mention that he has a jump shot. However, Doc told Powe not to break it out as a way to keep him closer to the basket. I do agree that he needs to stop being a black hole in the post when he gets the ball.

Leon may be my favorite Celtic, but come on, all I hear is how dumb TA is.  TA is wild but Leon has absolutely no basketball IQ.  That being said, I still prefer Leon to Baby because he rebounds better, and he can catch and finish much better.

BBIQ is another reason I like BBD better, he's a smarter player, which is why he got playing time as a rookie... smart enough to pick up the defensive rotations.  Higher BBIQ players will improve better than a low BBIQ player.

True Baby is much smarter, but I still prefer Leon's impact.  I agree that Leon would benefit tremendously if he would make quicker decisions after the catch.  Either shoot quickly or swing the ball.  He may be better off saving some of the hoop attacking for after he gets offensive rebounds.

I've never seen one.  BBD has definitely worked on his, and Perk was using one early in the season (he seems to have abandoned it).  Perk clearly did some work on the J in the off season.

It doesn't have to look pretty, but it would be a nice addition if Leon could add a short range jumper to the arsenal.

In his first 2 years he would take them on occasion, now it doesn't even seem like he considers taking them.  I remember him missing a couple consecutive jumpers last year and since then he seems to be trying to get to the line every time.

Powe's bread and butter in college was the 15 ft jumper... I've been preaching that the biggest thing he should work on his his HANDLE and I could see him being a ridiculous scoring threat.  Fact is.. he's undersized to play the position he's playing... he is great at it...but still...

If Powe could pass or shoot, he wouldn't be 9th man coming off the bench. He averages a little over 4 shots a game on 15 minutes of playing time. If you were a marginal NBA player with no shot, what would you do if you were in Powe's shoes? Powe is not going to get more playing time or a new contract if he passed the ball out to the perimeter every time he gets the ball down low. This black hole stuff is really a myth as far as I'm concerned.

He's a bad passer, its no myth.

I don't think its as big a deal as some think it is, but he's a awful passer, no vision what-so-ever.

I think this thread is pretty much insane.

Leon actually has a superior J to BBD or Perk, not sure why he doesn't break it out. Leon's problem is not passing it's handle. He's tried to pass the ball more this year (and has made several nice ones) but the more things he tries to do (versus just attack) the more chance his TOs have.

As for BBIQ, this is a BS term people use to hype their favorite player or attack the ones they don't like. What matters is results and they can be measured with tangible things, not completely unprovable concepts.
