I can't stand Doc's sub methods, and the fact he doesn't scream at his starters. If I was Doc I would have screamed at this starting 5 and bench them for a game. Gets them p---ed and angry, but when you don't get the fire back yourself, you need a swift kick in the behind like that. Tommy and Red would SCREAM, throw things, kick things, do whatever came into their minds that was violent when there players did the most stupid thing possible. Advice to Doc, get a new whipping boy. Pruitt, POB, and Powe shouldnt be the ones taking his flak.

lol, you've been waiting a year and a half to start calling for rivers' head again, haven't you? well i got news for ya, he's not going anywhere anytime soon. and quite frankly, i'm ok with that. it's not doc's fault...it's like, well, a doctor and a patient. the doctor can tell the patient to take their meds all day long. but if that patient forgets, or is too tired, or is stubborn, the patient won't take his meds. doc's preaching what needs to be done, it's not his fault it's not happening like it was last year.

we've lost 7 out of 9...lets not forget the 29-2 start, or the 17th championship that doc rivers led us to. i'm not about to complain and throw him under the bus for this team's issues the past couple of weeks.

it's very difficult to have a "good" looking rotation of bench players, when all you have is crappy bench players. you can take a crap, throw some tinsil, glitter and diamonds on it, and it's still a crap. we're asking doc to be houdini here and get us out of our losing skid, and he's doing everything he can with what he has to work with. please people, i'm just as furious about last night's game as everyone else. but throwing doc under the bus is not the solution.

if you were coach, who would you sub in off the bench to relieve paul pierce? scal's our backup SF if you didn't notice...and we have an overweight, undersized PF in big baby playing center, and a SF with damaged knees from his college days and no jump shot playing PF. our PG is a second year player (he looks the most composed out of anyone out there, IMO), and our SG is 5'10" barefoot.

tell me, whats your rotation? if doc is such a bad coach and is so brain dead and stupid, how would you fix this slump? doc's doing the right thing: stay the course, keep the troops' confidence, and showcase some of your younguns to make a trade for a veteran and free up cap space for another FA veteran signing.

Garnett is 6'11 220 pounds and while he can shoot over the top of a lot of post players having him pound the ball in the post is ineffective. He is such a great player often we have good results but it takes alot of energy and his play on the defensive end suffers a bit. Garnett is not strong enough to back down other pf's and centers.

But I think there's an obvious problem here? Garnett was Minnesota's franchise player; they never had enough on their roster to get out of the first round except for the Spree event. Today, the Celts have two franchise players, Pierce and Garnett, however, of the two, only Pierce can create his own shot. The '06-'07 team lost many of those 58 games because Pierce was out. So the point is that w/ both Pierce and Garnett on board, the Celts should only need a few additional *glue and role* players and that should be enough to compete for a title. Instead, the Celts need a near all star PG (Rondo), a veteran all star six shooter (Ray Ray), a near star-level center (Perkins), and the best sixth man in the league (ala Posey back), just to be contenders? I don't get it? Many elite teams do not have to have that many top players to be in the running? I mean LA's got 1 all star, 1 near all star (Gasol), a Perkules w/Big Al's hands (Bynum), and bunch of Raef LaFrenzs (all the rest of the Euro players there) but they seem to make due with their resources.

I think Garnett should try to make his own shot, regardless. If Rondo's not feeding him the Alley Opp then he should take the ball to 12 ft, and do a shake 'n bake on his defender and get off a good fadeaway shot. After doing that a few times, the opponent's teammates will help out on defense, and that's when KG can pass out to an open man. Instead, his game is that of passing, before trying to make the defenses work, and what that does is tell others that Garnett's afraid to take the shot and so they avert their attention to what Pierce is doing.

While Doc earned his job for this year, he will have to take part of the blame if this teams fails to reach it's goal.

Oh don't you worry, he'll have an excuse.

It's amazing how quickly people forget. I remember working at MCI a few years back and having to call all over the country and MCI had just gone through one of the largest bankruptcies in U.S. corporate history. Poor management, unbelievably bad business ethics and total lack of concern for customers but did anyone remember that only 1 year later. Hardly anyone ever even said a word about it because they had forgotten.

It's kind of like with this team. It was just a few weeks ago we debating wether this team was better then the 86 squad. Now, we are ready to get rid of major players and/or the coach? Come on guys, get a grip. Nowhere is it written that the champion has to have the leagues best record, nor home court advantage, or even the best player. Life is filled with peaks and valleys, valleys and peaks, and everything in between is the majority.

Teams have not suddenly and mysteriously firured out how to beat the C's. My guess is several of the starting 5 are injured. Teams don't discuss this much but Perk hurt his shoulder in the L.A. game, KG has been having "leg" issues, and who knows what else is going on.

I do know one thing about this team though. We have lost some of the team concept. Last year if a C got knocked down there were ALWAYS his teammates there to pick him up. Now, I saw at least 3 or 4 times last night when a Celtic player got knocked to the court and no other Celtic player helped him up. When Rondo got hammered by Lebron Rivers should have had BBD return the favor. I am quite certain that BBD can handle Lebron one on one physically.

Just get the team concept back and we will fight through the injuries and go deep into the playoffs again.

Well, in fairness, it wasn't much of a debate. ;)

Doc did start to play Ray and Paul with the bench....heck he did it last night in the second half.

sure the bench plays better with the starters, but the starters get burned out more and thus play less well when they are playing with each other.

there's just no way to mask the lack of scoring off the bench right now. it's a "peter to pay paul" situation...and making the starters less efficient together by tiring them out with the bench doesn't seem like a solution to me.

I agree with this 100%.  Last year it seemed if the starters struggled there were some nights the bench picked up the slack and helped win some games during the regular season.  Not all, but some.  This year there's no chance of that happening.  So unless the starters play a perfect game there's a problem.

The bench is so weak right now.  It's amazing to me how Scalabrine, who was left off last year's playoff roster because he was so bad, is now being mentioned by some as being our first player off the bench.  Crazy
