I am not sure why this team is so manic or bipolar but that probably comes with the territory with a highly emotional guy like KG.
KG is a type of marquee player who doesn't do the one thing which would make the big three unstoppable, draw double teams on the block; therefore, we're vulnerable to defenses which puts one guy on him and focuses on making sure that PP can't create his own shot off the dribble.
In my dream team scenario, Pierce is hooked up with an Olajuwon and what happens is that when the ball is in Hakeem's hand, a double team is immediately called on him, in the post, and at the same time, the team defenses will be at stopping HO from having a direct line to pass to Pierce. This is what we'd needed from KG and in this situation both PP and Ray Ray will be scoring threats without needing to be able to beat their man off the dribble. Of course, Pierce can beat most one-on-one defenders but that really isn't necessary 100% of the time. The difference is that KG doesn't garner tight defenses because he's not a mainstay post scorer, who can generate his own shot, but a person who's got too much of Pau Gasol in him and bit of Mutumbo's shot blocking.
Really, KG has got to step up his game and start to play more of a post game, create his own shot, and then find his open scorer in the perimeter.
