I thought the Cavs struggled badly against Orlando last season. They lost 3 of 4 regular season games and I think they lost two preseason games against them too. The only game they won was a mercurial 40 point sweet shooting Larry Hughes performance (and even that one was a closely fought game).

Dwight Howard's presence on both ends of the court bothered the Cavs hugely.

They haven't played against one another yet this season so it's too early to know if anything has changed yet. Last year, I thought the Cavs matched up worse against Orlando than any other team in the East.

This is different from what you said initially. Initiall, you declared them champs. You didn't say that they should be the champs, you said they WOULD be.

You total exagerration of my point regarding an injury to LeBron makes it no less valid. If he gets hurt, they are done. There is always a chance of that happening, so they can't be declared champs with so much time to go before the finals.
[/quote]

Now you're just being ridiculous. Do you think that I meant that if the entire team wasn't able to play that they still would be champs?! You know that what I am saying is that the Cavs will be the champs. I stand by that comment. They look like we did last year. They have great defense and a great offense. You can throw hypothetical numbers out all you want, but that is the truth.

yeah, this is painful. this cavs team minus crappy wally and adding a borderline allstar or all star level player. cavs are not stupid. they have the potential to be amazing.

Cool, I can stop following this season and concentrate on more pressing matters then yeah? I needed a break like this, thanks for letting me know. I'll also put all my money down on them, as it's a dead cert.

If your life was on the line and you had to put it down on them or us I am pretty sure that you wouldn't be betting on us over them though would you?!

Sorry to insult your obvious superior wisdom and bother your talented basketball genius...

what does who you would put your money on have to do with anything.....would have put your money on the Cavs when we were in the middle of our winning streak?

clearly the Cavs are the better team at the moment, but like the other poster mentioned....are we just supposed to pack up and go home?

No worries, you're forgiven.

They've done nothing yet but have a great start to the season. Granted, we've played like rubbish in recent weeks, but to write us off is ridiculous.

For what it's worth, if my life was on the line, I'd put it on the defending champions. If I'm going to die, I'd rather die rooting for my team rather than turning my back on them.

Yeah. Sure you would... And to clarify, oh sarcastic one, I am not turning my back on them at all. I want them to make some adjustments to make us a better ball club so that we can do this again. I am however just stating a very obvious point we all know, and that is that the Cavs are dramatically better this season than they were last year and we are worse. It isn't how you start the season that matters as you know. There isn't a team that can beat them in a 7 game series as it sits right now. If they add Joe Smith, then you can go ahead and mortgage your house and put it all on them.

This is getting silly.

They've had a great start, we had a better start. We're in a slump, they're hot. We've got championship experience from top to bottom, they don't.

Last year, the Spurs were the team to beat until they fell to the Lakers because they were the champs and were at the level everyone wanted to reach. I gave them the respect they deserved, and this year I'd like to give us the respect we deserve despite being in a sticky situation.

In a seven game series we can stop LeBron and the Cavs. We're good enough to do that. This is the same team that won 19 straight, when we did that there was talk about beating the Bulls' record and being better than the '86 Celtics.

Overreactions to streaks of all sorts is a given, but to write off a team like this in January after a little slump is nothing short of ludicrous.

Anyone who thinks the current roster can win a title is in denial. Calling this "a little slump" makes about as much sense as expecting Gabe Pruitt to single-handedly turn this mess around.

This team isn't going to make it out of the Eastern Conference as constituted. Van Gundy gets a lot of unwarranted grief on this board, but he hit the nail on the head in the broadcast - Danny "didn't add anything" this summer.

This off-season was a disaster. We have no chips to move that anyone wants. And now we have a starting group that isn't giving a lick of defensive effort, a point who can't shoot, and absolutely zero help off the bench.

As the poster above stated, Cleveland has improved itself. The Celtics are worse. Markedly worse. And JJ Redick ain't gonna fix that. (Good Lord, what a thoroughly awful idea Redick is.)

We play in the worst division in the NBA, and many of those games were against very bad teams. We only had 3-4 quality wins in that stretch. You can be the homer all you want and blame everyone for overreacting, but the fact is that these other teams improved while we got worse. That isn't even debatable. The reason that the Spurs dropped was for the same reason. They got worse and the Lakers got better. I am sure Spurs fans were throwing out the same nonsense you are with their "don't worry, we are the Champs" trash. This is a league of now. Not last year. Go ahead and keep your head in the sand, but we aren't on the same level as the Cavs are and they are able to get better because they have the ability to make some solid trades and attract Joe Smith if he gets released.

I'm a homer because I'm not getting down on this team? Fair enough.

I TP'd you for the argument even though I disagree with 90% of what you said.

Thanks, I don't think I'm burying my head in the sand. I didn't overreact when we were winning and I wont do so when we're losing. Obviously there are glaring weaknesses which need addressing, but I'm not worried... yet.
