So what you are saying basically then is I'm right. You are looking at the 2009 NBA Champs. I wouldn't put money down with your odds on us. I think you are probably about right if not a bit high.

You know exactly what I am saying, and that is that the team we just played is better than anyone else in the league right now and should be the NBA champs. If the entire team was injured in a bus crash then yes I would be wrong. You giving them a 1/3rd chance only if we stop playing like a bunch of pansies and return to our dominant self is saying the same thing.

No, I don't think I'm really agreeing with you. You are declaring them the undisputed champions. I am calling them the favorite to win it. There is a 40% difference between the % chance you give then to win it (100%) and the % chance I give them to win it (60%).

I think the Cavs are the best team, but you really can't declare someone the champ in January. There's too much that could happen, either in the playoffs with an upset or with an injury.

We have similar ideas, but my position is much more moderate.

Sorry. Now you are just changing your figures. You said they had a 35-40% chance of beating them ONLY if we returned to the level of play that they were earlier in the year, not a 60% chance.

I'm NOT changing my figures. I gave the Celtics a 35-40% chance of beating the Cavs. Those are chances for JUST the Celtics winning a 7 game series.

The Chance that I give ANY OTHER TEAM beating the Cavs in a series, plus the possibilty of an injury to Lebron is 40%.

The 60% chance applies to Cavs chances of managing to overcome all potential obstacles and winning the championship.

Celtics vs. Cavs 7 game series -- 35-40% chance for Celtics, 60-65% chance for Cavs

Then separately:

Cavs overcoming everything and winning-- 60% chance.

chance that Cavs fall prey to an inspired team or an injuryinury

This is different from what you said initially. Initiall, you declared them champs. You didn't say that they should be the champs, you said they WOULD be.

You total exagerration of my point regarding an injury to LeBron makes it no less valid. If he gets hurt, they are done. There is always a chance of that happening, so they can't be declared champs with so much time to go before the finals.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

well boston sure is going to be playing the underdog role now...they are not the hunted anymore

i respectfully disagree...not only are they the hunted, but the league now sees them as beatable.  we're still defending champions and that puts a big fat bullseye on our back.

hopefully it will motivate them as they see themelves slide down the eastern conf standings

Cavs will win it this year, they are legit and a better team than us right now, Im sorry but I was at times amazed with them at both ends of the court...they look unstoppable...And as someone else said, if it comes down to Cavs vs Lakers, Kobe vs LeBron...Go cavs

One word: January

More words: Celtics had the best record last year, best road record, dominating defense...and still they were NOT  picked to win it all going into the finals! And you're picking the Cavs in January? They're separated by a couple of games, 2 or 3 in the loss column...in January!! Are the Cavs playing better now? Yup. Were the Celtics playing better before the holidays? Yup.

It's a long season. You'll have a better chance convincing me after the all-star break.

Yes, it's too early to write the Celtics off.  But the window to championship #18 looks very small right now.

Fact?  You need to check the definition of that word.  Favorite? I'll agree, but yours is still an opinion, however well supported, until and unless it happens.

I'm going to say this right now, if Cleveland has to play Orlando in the Finals, I'd be scared if I was Cleveland. I think Orlando matches up better with Cleveland than any other team especially because they have two long athletic players (granted not known for their defense) in Turk and Lewis to put in front of James while Cleveland has no answer for Howard. I think Nelson wins the match up between him and Mo Williams. And I think Orlando's size at every position could pose problems for Cleveland's small reserve backcourt.

I totally disagree. Orlando is the easiest team to game plan 4, just stop D. Howard. I believe Cavs have the length and enough bodies to throw @ him. Another reason is that Cavs have a deeper bench with experience. And the Cavs have the best defensive team in the NBA.

Are you stopping DHoward the scorer or the rebounder? I don't think Cleveland can do either. But even if Ben Wallace and Z can somehow stay in front of him, I don't think Cleveland has the defenders on the wings to Run off Lewis and Turk, or even Nelson for that matter.

At least now, we can be underdogs
again. Huge underdogs. Clearly
something is wrong with this team.
I'm just glad it's halfway through
the season and not in April.

I agree with EJ here.  Sasha Pavlovic can't even get off their bench.  He'd probably be our 6th man.
God bless and good night!

Lets trade Scal for him then.
