And the Celtics make this trade... why?

Ray will be very tradeable at the 2010 deadline, as teams try to clear cap space for the 2010 blue chip free agent class.  You won't get full value for him before then.

No reason really. I just thought it would be fun to make up a trade.

i've heard that being a lion tamer is fun too.

Not if you're Roy, or was it Siegfried?

I know it's a matter of taste, but among the topics that we find endlessly interesting here, the trade Ray Allen threads are my least favorite, even as they climb the standings:

1. Antoine Walker
2. Trade Ray Allen
3. Rivers criticism (fell off greatly in '08; possibly due for a slump-related revival?)
4. Gerald Green (nearly over, at least until 20 point outburst from Mavs' bench...)

Others?

Remember when people balked at the idea of trading Big Al for KG?  Those always were my #1 hated threads

They were Tiger tamers, far more dangerous.

Ray will not get traded this year. Danny will let GPA defend the tittle this year. Depending on whether the Celtics repeat or not and who is available, Ray will possibly be traded this summer or during next season.

Ray is very tradable. He is an All-Star player who is a borderline HOF 2 guard. He is one of the greatest shooters of all time. He gives us a guard who can hit clutch free throws at the end of games. He hits big shots constantly. He is a very smooth player who can drive to the basket and finish with either hand.He is a stud that every team would love to have on their squad.

Which is exactly why trading him is a ridiculous idea...

Nothin' borderline about Ray's HOF status now that he has a ring.
