According to this blog by Andy Katz, Joakim Noah has butted heads with bulls coach Vinny Del Negro and was recently fined for his reaction to a team rule that players are not allowed to eat in the locker room
http://dimemag.com/2009/01/is-joakim-noah-the-bulls-problem/The Chicago Tribune’s Rick Morrissey has no problem pointing the finger for the Bulls’ recent slide, in which they’ve barely been competitive in six of their last seven games, losing by an average of 12.1 points per game. And it’s not like there was one 40-point piecing. It’s been consistently ugly. Morrissey’s answer to the issue is that Joakim Noah, Larry Hughes, and Tyrus Thomas have a serious problem with authority. But mainly, it’s Noah’s fault.
This is a fragile time for Del Negro, who came into the job with no coaching experience. If he’s going to be challenged by a player, at least have it be by someone who can play.
If Paxson jettisons Noah, it will send a message to the rest of the team that good behavior is expected from everyone, even the ninth overall pick in the 2007 draft, even a player in whom the Bulls have invested lots of time and money. Especially him.
The scouting report on Noah is that he provides “energy.” Some of us view it as bogus energy, sort of like the guy who pretends he’s talking on the phone at work in order to look busy.
Though I don’t get to watch the Bulls on a regular basis, I’ve found myself glued to Derrick Rose and thus have missed out totally on what Noah’s done. Perhaps it’s because he hasn’t done anything. But it could also be that no one is watching. On last year’s Bulls’ team, everyone was searching to find something positive to hold onto. Joakim’s 6.6 points, 5.7 boards, and 0.8 blocks per game were refracted into a positive light. Now, his 4.6 points, 5.9 boards, and 1.3 blocks per game aren’t viewed the same way.
Is Morrissey being unfairly critical of Joakim?
So it appears that the bulls fans and coaches are beginning to get fed up with Joakim Noah. To me I think they expect way to much from the kid because of his college career. He is never going to be a low post offensive threat that the bulls have been looking for forever, but I think he can still be a solid big man in the NBA .
This year he is averaging 4.5ppg, 6rpg and 1.2blks in just 18 mins. He appears to be on the trading block and I think the C's should go after him !
So here's the trade :
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=2367~3200~3019~3224&teams=4~4~4~2&te=&cash=Bos gets: Noah
Chi gets: TA, BBD, POB
OR
Bos gets: Noah
Chi gets: TA and Giddens
I think Chicago might take this deal, or one similar to it. We might have to give up giddens instead of POB, but I think I would do it to make the deal work.
Why chicago does it: 1)According to many reports and blogs I have read it appears Noah could be moved to send a message to the rest of the team.
2)Tony Allen is a Chicago native. The bulls appear to need help at SG with the uncertainty of Gordons future and Larry Hughs future beyond next year they could use a young low salary wingman who still has time to develop
3)They get either Giddens or BBD and POB. They are young players that still have time to develop for cheap while the bulls try to build around Rose
Why for Boston:I think Joakim Noah would be a PERFECT fit for this team. He can defend ,rebound , hustle, and is a legit 7ft tall. We are going to need another big body to go against Big Z, Dwight Howard, Gasol and Bynum when then Playoffs come and I think he is one of the best options out there as a big man. I don't see him having a bad attitude on this team, because if he does KG, Pierce and Ray will be all over his ass. I think a contending team with strong veteran leaders is the exact atmosphere this kid needs to reach his full potential. While I know it was only college the kid has played in many big games over his career, so I don't think he will fold under playoff pressure. With KG and Perk in his ear he will develop the toughness and intensity he needs to bring every night.
Remember it usually takes a big man 5 years to reach his potential, as Perk is showing this year. I think this kid would devlop wonderfully on the C's
What do you guys think? I think it is worth a shot!
