I would say Pop. Perhaps the most hated & the most successful next to P. Jackson. He does so much for his team with so little. Every game he positions his team to succeed. Who knows maybe Doc found out the secret to success, Pop Jr?

Best sometimes means does not always mean winning championships. But I think you got to at least have your team competing for them every year, no matter who the players on your team are. I've never seen Pop coach in the NBA without Duncan. So I'm not sure on him. My top 2 are:

u can easily make a case for the ones that make the effort without tools, and showed they can outcoach others

I respect what Sloan has accomplished as a coach and realize that what he's done hasn't been easy, and I know all about his coaching style and the type of attitude his teams possess. That being said, is it fair to call a coach who has coached in the NBA close to 23 seasons, and has yet to win an NBA championship, the best coach in the league? At the end of the day, it's about winning, isn't it? And by winning, I mean winning rings. It may be true that over the last 20 years the Jazz have been the mark of stability and consistency, while the Celtics franchise has languished under the direction of coaches whose names don't belong in the same sentence as Sloan's. But in those 20 years, the Celtics have won a championship, and the Jazz have not.

He may not be well-loved by every player (*COUGH*Shaq*COUGH*) but he does whatever he can to win the game.

Jackson - 9 rings, but has had some pretty sweet coaching jobs.

Sloan - No rings, but his teams are always competitive.
