who would win in a seven game series? this celts team or Bird/ Mchale's celts?

86' C's in 7! At the end of the day 86' would just be too big & too skilled in the end. Larry & company had that killer instinct that I believe we are starting to learn, plus 86 second unit with Walton would prove to be a huge factor. And our weakness at the moment seems to be rebounding & giving up extra shots to our opponents. With 86' you were one & done. Plus our defense now is setup to make teams jump shooting teams which 86' would just shoot the lights out with a closer like no other in Bird & magnificient free-throw shooters to close out games.

86 in 5 as the 09 bench of Baby, Powe, House and Allen would get killed playing against the likes of Walton, Sichting, Wedman and Vincent. I can just see Baby and Powe trying to guard McHale and Walton down under. It would get very ugly.

Wow smack us right down to reality here; Birds boys in a sweep.  Maybe 5 games.  Who was the weak link on that team, Danny? He could defend or at least harrass Ray.  Great rebounding team.  Could Perk defend the Chief, perks the man but he'd be Parrishs backup for sure.   Love PP but sf line up against Bird (ouch) .  KG matches up nice with McHale but kevin & chief's range would draw our better rebounders out of posistion.  Davis would look like a high schooler playing against this team, starters or bench players.

The key to this series for our current team would be rondo, birds team wouldn't have anybody with that sort of speed.
My feeling is the current nba is overall not at the 80's level anyways.

Yeah there is a good chance dj would give him a hip check into the stands.  I can actually picture this happening.
I'd take Kite, Robey, Kleine or even that Walton fellow on this years team.

I have trouble thinking of anyone to supplant our current starting five.  Some players might be more talented, but not sure if the skill-chemistry would work.

i think through the first three quarters it'd be a stalemate with big plays from mchale/garnett trying to one-up eachother, Ray breaking away from danny on screens(every once in a while vice-versa), Parish having a good game but hitting below his season avg's, a VERY big matchup with DJ/Rondo, but down the stretch it'd be all bird/pierce trading buckets.
